Why T-Rob? Like someone mentioned earlier, Coach had to take on more coaching the D this year for a reason. Was it T-Rob or Steele? I’m thinking maybe a little of both.
It’s DeBoer’s thing now anyway. We have to get out of this picking and choosing shite for this year anyway.
The dude knows how to win - he is the boss now. He’ll either make a great choice or not.

I think Kiffin was onto something when he said T-Rob was doing more overall with the defense, which probably had Saban working more with the DBs than he usually does.
T-Rob is a great DB coach and a good recruiter, I think people just want continuity instead a clean break from Saban(right or wrong).
I hope DeBoer hires the best coaches, not just a 1 for 1 transplant of his UW coaches. That's too BBQ buddies for me, you can't tell me a passing defense in the 120s had the best man on the job.

I think a lot of folks want him bc of his connection to RW. Hoping he is retained and DeBoer can sign RW in Feb. That plus some familiarity so half the roster don’t bounce.

Pass defense that faced, and beat Quinn Ewers, Caleb Williams, Bo Nix twice, and Cameron Ward.

I think that's been debunked.

Good because I don’t want to be Mississippi St. lol

They gave up 300 yards passing in each of those games and multiple TDs in the air in all those games except Texas. Hey if we win shootouts that is fine but I would much rather have a strong D to compliment the offense.

Maybe kirby jumps to nfl then

They dealt with much better QB play this year than we did in the SEC.

Exactly.
I think loyalty to assistants is respectable, but I think it's a disservice to not atleast see what's out there with a better brand and budget to work with.
No notes for the UW offensive staff, they're great. Maybe the TE could be better

To me, it makes sense for him to bring a large portion of his staff to maintain consistency. Then the players are simply integrated into a new system, but not everyone is learning (players and coaches).
However, it also makes sense to bring UW’s strength (offense) and combine it with our strength (defense). Plus the recruiting pipelines here are important, and Mr. Courtney has strong ties out West… not here.

I hope he provides some clarity at the presser tomorrow where the assistants are concerned and the subject doesn’t get skirted.

I really like Freddie Roach and worked with him a bit. Hes funny and a bit of a goofball. Loved him as a player(although he has absolute stonehands when balls were thrown right at him). My impression is that he wasnt that serious about coaching(he started in weight room) and that he was going into law enforcement. There is no comparison to Bo Davis at all(who I also saw working). Id love to have a guy who actually played D-Line and who is a natural teacher.

Most definitely would love a natural teacher at that position.

This is gonna be an unpopular take...but I hope there is a clean slate. I once heard George Teague doing a radio interview about the defensive back technique. The way he described it was Bama uses a technique that is usually reserved for goal line D all the time and it is extremely difficult and a bit antiquated for defending the offenses of today. Bama can do it because of the great athletes they have.
I think the future of defense is something like Michigan ran this season. A lot of zone making your opponents be methodical to move the ball with some unpredictable pressure.
If we are gonna run a Saban style defense(which frankly hasnt been dominating in years), you need Saban running and teaching it, not a protege.

I love Saban's technique. It has gotten a lot defensive backs to the league but I do want to see his technique modified to make it even better so if bringing fresh ideas in is what it's going to take then so be it.

What I want is for DeBoer to bring in whoever he wants.
This isn't about a "clean break" from Saban. This is about hiring the best head coach out there, letting him put all the pieces in place that he needs to, and then everyone falling in line and giving him nothing less than full throated support.
I don't care how good a coach TRob is. DeBoer gets to hire whoever the frick he wants. People need to accept that right now, get the frick over it, and fall in line.
And I guarantee you that Nick Saban would tell you the same thing.
