re: 2017 Basketball recruiting and offseason news thread

Same dude that wrote the article (Dan McDonald I think) on Sexton doesn't believe the new GT commitment will effect Sexton's recruitment, FWIW. Hope he's wrong, lol.

I'd like to see everyone's guesses for Alabama's class. Rank them from the player you feel most confident in signing with Bama to the least confident.

1.) Alex Reese: This is the 1 player I've all but penciled in to wear Crimson. I have Reese with a 98-99% chance of signing with the Tide. My jaw would hit the floor if he signed elsewhere.

2.) Collin Sexton: i've just heard too many things with him concerning Bama for too long. It just doesn't feel like someone's going to swoop in and steal him in these last two months, Avery has his claws dug in here. I feel it's about a 90% chance he Rolls with the tide.

3.) John Petty: 75% chance he rolls with the Tide.

4.) Rayshaun Hammonds & Herb Jones: i'm about 50% with both of these players, so I'll call for us to get one of them.

5.) Troy Brown: not saying that it can't happen, but it would be a miracle and program changer if it did and we added Brown to what I think we are already going to get. But low chance, I'd say 20%

Obviously this is all hit and miss, but at the end of the day I think this class will be a program changer for the tide.

For the 2017/2018 season, I see us adding...

What makes you guys so confident that we get John Petty?

Reese 75%, Jones and Sexton 60%, Hammonds 50 %, Petty 40 %, Harvey and Brown 10%. I'm not quite ready to commit to saying we get anybody either. Just too much time left. Many things can happen.

That being said, I believe Avery knows he HAS to land at least one out of Sexton, Petty or Brown. Those guys are program changers for our situation. If he misses on or 2 of those guys, he'll be relentless on the other(s).

I'd go:

This may look pessimistic but that's 5 people that we have a 50% chance or better with. I think we will get 3 commits from this list of 7. I would be pleased with any combination of the 3. Would be a solid recruiting class. This class is important though because I think 2018 will be weaker for us because of the lack of local talent in that group.

I think we get them ALL!

Honestly, I have no idea. I really don't follow recruiting. I do think CAJ will bring in a good class though.

I know that just don't have much faith in Sexton as time goes on my faith diminishes
