LSU Heisman-winning quarterback Jayden Daniels announced Monday that he will be opting out of the Reliaquest Bowl vs. Wisconsin to prepare for the NFL Draft.

In a video he posted to social media, Daniels issued a heartfelt thank you message to Tiger Nation and ended the announcement with "Five-Out."

With Daniels not playing in the Bowl Game, quarterback Garrett Nussmeier will likely make his first career start vs. the Badgers on Jan. 1.

I really thought he'd play to hit that 5K passing mark. But I understand putting your career first. Nothing else to prove. Interested to see the gameplan with Nuss as the full-time starter. Good early preview of next year's passing game.

Not many Heisman winners playing in a meaningless bowl. I don’t blame him.

Good point, but its not more "meaningless" than the last regular season game so why not quit before that one? Or the one before the minute you know you can't win a Natty?

Great year and great player. But change the headline to "quit". This "opt out" wording is for coverage. Call it what it is.

This is perfect. Nuss will light 'em up and end the season on a high note for 2024.
Note to self: We still need RBs.

I would have enjoyed seeing him play one last time but this is best for all involved.

It gives Nuss a great chance to get a leg up on the competition next year.
