I really hope our coaches don't think much about this crap. Talent and potential are everything. The only time we prefer local kids over others should be when all else is equal between them. LSU recruiters should NOT have to walk on eggshells for local high school coaches.

Coach O has said many times in public that it is important to get the best kids from in state and that he is sick every time he watches Etienne playing for Clemson on film.
Like everything else, there is a balance. Ideally, we would get about 15 guys a year from in state. In the past, there would be 12 - 15 guys in state that were good enough to contribute at LSU.
Sometimes there are not enough or there is a positional imbalance. If you look at 247 for 2021, there are 9 4*/5* players in state and 5 of them are WR.
