I was like some in this thread. I was a functioning alcoholic. Held my job, never got arrested and thought I was maintaining a good house. Until the day my wife packed her bags and was standing at the door with my 11 year old and said they were gone if I didn’t stop drinking. As far as an outside influence affecting my life that was my rock bottom. By the way my wife had been asking me to stop drinking for about 3 years. I just thought I could control it. I couldn’t admit I was drinking entirely too much.

My wife was right there with me drinking as much as I was. How our marriage survived is a miracle.
