Dude, disagree with whatever people, groups, organizations, and factions of Americans you want. You disagree with the police and their tactics? Cool. That's your prerogative. Our country and it's laws/freedom grant you that ability. You want to effect change on the homefront, go for it. Volunteer. Donate. Get out and be proactive. But you start to shite on our country and its symbols, forget it. It will only cause a divide.

I actually think its a very effective way of bringing their cause to the for front of the news/media. I see nothing wrong with it. I know I'm in the minority here that believe in personal freedoms over symbolic protection. I think it shows more patriotism to support Americans over a flag and song.

I wouldn't kneel during the anthem, but would fully support any team mate that feels the need to do so.

Except that there is NO conversation about the change she and others are wanting. All we are talking about is who will protest and how. If all you are talking about is the protest itself, then the protest really is a pointless waste of time.

Fine if they want to do it, but in my view it's accomplishing absolutely nothing.

This is such a hollow comment and one that keeps getting thrown around by the media in defense of the people that protest the anthem. It's a strawman argument that is trying to make the other side into lunatics that want these people arrested. Nobody is arguing to take away her personal freedom. She can kneel all she wants, but there may be consequences. She doesn't have the inalienable right to play for the USWNT. She is a player that is past her prime, has become a distraction, and no longer feels pride in her country. Well, the team should do her a favor and not call her up anymore. She won't have to represent such a terrible country anymore.

You realize those two things are tied together, right? Your personal freedoms and those symbols?

Without those symbols (i.e. what the symbols represent), your personal freedoms in all likelihood don't exist.

I highly doubt anyone is saying Rapinoe shouldn't press for social reform and justice. But it's her method. And Kaepernick's method. It's insane.

Where's the line? What is unacceptable? Would people finally say "that's too far" if someone burned or literally shat on the American flag, claiming they're standing up for social injustices?

It feels far too much like the end justifies the means with all of this, and that's a dangerous road to traverse.
