Diatomaceous Earth. Non toxic to people and pets. May have heard about it on this board a yr or two ago. Basically a fine dust composed of the fossilized remains of some type of algae. We have wood floors and inside cats, and yet still had a war with fleas for a while.

It is abrasive and kills the fleas by lacerating their exoskeleton, and they then die of dehydration. You get a bulb type spreader to distribute it to any surface where the fleas hide... cracks and crevices, carpeting, bedding. You can even rub it straight on the pets, but better to apply liberally to their bedding, because you don't want to breathe this stuff in. When you apply do it aiming low to the ground, and preferably with a mask. I usually close the room or area off for 20 min. while "the dust settles".

Don't want to get it in your eyes either. Will need a separate treatment a week or two later to kill newly-hatched eggs. Good luck!
