I texted him asking about his situation. They can't just charter a jet at this point... they were supposed to leave today on a scheduled flight and that was cancelled. The city is surrounded by rugged mountains and I have no clue what kind of options are further inland. I would think the Hilton would have one of the safest structures in the area but obviously the proximity to the water is very concerning.

I wish him good luck. I would be flagging down guys off the street and paying them to drive me east and up.

Won't the winds be coming from the east and northeast blowing out to sea at Puerto Vallarta thereby reducing any storm surge? Isn't this a rather narrow field of intensity?
