Thanks for comments... just might saddle up one day and get hands on a yak to keep at camp to try my luck real close by.. Have run from storms(and been caught) in 24' bay and 18' GTR. I have seen guys out in marsh way out my comfort range from any boat launch paddling that arse off when those summer storms show up, and nowhere to hide fast.. Balls, is all i got to say.

Just use your judgement. I watch the weather. Never venture far if the weathers shady. I own a boat. I just have more fun on the yak. Once you build the stamina for paddling, its nothing to paddle four miles. I usually don't have to paddle far to catch fish.
