He shot her several times, because he thought she was a scammer? During broad daylight? Seriously? She made no demands and only asked to pick up a package? At worst he couldn't just hold the gun on her and ask to call the police? He had to just shoot her several times? I guess I need to hear more details, but this is messed up. I don't care what the scammer said I don't see how you can just shoot someone like this who doesn't appear to have anything in their hands. And it's an older woman in her 60s?

Yeah… sorry but PawPaw straight up murdered an innocent human being. The rest of his life is about to be a hell of a lot more inconvenient than just being defrauded by a cellphone scam.

No. The scam was someone calling him and threatening to kill him and his family if he didn’t pay some ransom. The Uber driver was also tricked into showing up at the house. It’s like his was some sort of sick prank.

He thought she was working with whoever called and threatened him.

He's elderly so he could be experiencing dementia. We don't know what sort of threats were made and what was suggested about the Uber driver.'s involvement or potential threat status. Does the old guy know what Uber is and how a relatively unmarked car shows up to a specific address? The court will hear what we don't.
