I was on the fence about tuning-in for tonight’s Rumble. I did, but ultimately regretted it. It wasn’t the best show.
It’ll likely never happen, but I wish they’d nix the women’s Rumble match. It was a bad sign going in that only about six names were advertised. Even the dedicated fan base in the stadium didn’t know who some of these chicks were.
With two Rumbles on the show, at night’s end, you’ve watched 60 countdown clocks, 60 entrances, and 58 eliminations. There’s only so many ways to toss someone over the top rope. The spot where a wrestler hangs on and one foot dangles is beyond played-out. It’s all just too much.
With only four matches on the show, this thing shouldn’t have run four hours. It should be tighter. Cody and Punk went on far too long as the last two guys. WWE’s formula of hitting a big move and then having wrestlers lay still on the mat for three minutes makes for a hard watch. I tuned-out the second Punk hit the floor. It was enough, already.
