Give me a break, there were so many fatal aviation accidents related to maintenance issues in the past.
One of the most famous domestic aviation disasters, AA Flight 191, was caused by American Airlines going against the McDonnell-Douglas recommended DC-10 maintenance procedure in order to save a few hundred hours of work.

I was 9 when this happened. We were going to Hawaii the following Saturday on an AA DC-10
Needless to say I was a nervous wreck the entire week, during the flight, the week in Hawaii, and the return flight. I was never so glad to be back home and on the ground the day we returned.
