The efforts to build the bridge in the 1990s was shot down because the people in the surrounding parishes did not want it and packed public meetings to voice their displeasure. Therefore, the local politicians did not pursue this option.
This negative attitude of "It will never get done" and "Not in my backyard" is why we are in the situation we are in today.
Just think -- if McHugh and Holden had support, we would have these improvements now -- probably in your lifetime.
How can y'all not remember how hard Kip Holden fought for a loop when he was Mayor? That was shot down, too.
