Tailgating with you for a Georgia game makes me nervous for a Panic show.

Scares me to. That's why we started going to games and quit going to shows.

I never got to see them in athens, unfortunately. I definitely feel too old to be going to "shows" now.

So who scored tickets today?

I'll be there both nights + Savannah

Athens is on for me but I'm still trying to make Savannah work... It is in the wife's hands at the time being

Have you seen their crowd lately? I'm sure people will be there older than you

The past couple shows I've been too there have been significant numbers of people who are 40+...like a lot.

The Classic Center is always full of old up tight squares... Then Panic rolls into town and the venue staff loses their collective mind. Hell they banned drinking inside the building back at the 2007 shows, made you buy your drinks and drink them outside

That's not true
I went to the second show and was drinking like a fish. All they had was Terrapin

It was just night 1- so many people threw a fit and bitched that they allowed drinks in for night 2 and 3

Yeah I was there all three nights, and we were drinking plenty inside the venue. Just had to have a wristband to get outside to buy the beer.
One of the nights I actually hopped the barricade outside the beer garden and walked in through the door. The lady got all pissed cause she thought I was attempting to drink underage. I showed her my ID, she gave me a wristband, didn't even ask if I had a ticket.

Someone let me know what time the show actually starts and ends tonight. I have Wednesday night tickets, but I need to get everything squared away with my babysitter!

I expect them to be onstage around 7:45 and the shows typically end at 11:15 but it might go until 11:30 since it's a home town banger. I'll be there both nights hope everyone going has a blast!

Okay, at the risk of being down-voted all to hell here, WHY is Widespread Panic such a big deal? I've heard a little of their stuff (admittedly, not much) and I just never cared for it. I feel like this is total stoner music. Amirite?

They are a jam band that has genuine Southern roots and play a lot of Southern rock as well. They all attended UGA and formed in Athens and attract folks like myself who love southern rock as well as stoners who are there to party but also love the improvisation that the band delivers. I'm relatively young and didn't go to UGA when they peaked around 1998-2002 but they captivated college aged crowds with their tunes. One of their founding members, Michael Houser was the lead guitarist and wrote many of their songs, died in 2002 of pancreatic cancer and was an icon to the bands movement that many people who saw him live fell in love with. Honestly, they are all just a bunch of good ole boys playing good music that happen to be influenced by the town and school that I love so it is easy for me to really relate and enjoy their music.
