2012, AM was running down the field and all of us were saying "spike it" but no, we hurried a play instead of running our best play
It was definitely this one play rust cost us and not the 7000 yards our defense gave up.

people who think us not spiking the ball lost us that game shouldn't even be listened to.

That would include CMR

Well, it certainly didn't help us win the game. It also cost us a play. We should have had 2 shots at the end zone. Instead we rushed a play and threw the ball short of the goal line.

1) Bama's All American DLineman putting his hand up to deflect the pass had zero to do with the playcall.
2) They were one of the best defenses in the country and we marched the ball down the entire field in under a minute. We had them on the ropes and on their heels, going for the throat was the right call opposed to letting saban draw up a play
3) The play that was called was our bread and butter in that situation that worked countless times. Even if we spiked it, we'd likely run the same play again.
4) We were up 11 points late in the 3rd quarter. Maybe, just maybe, the fact that we had no DL to rotate in and let them run all over us in the 4th quarter lost us the game.
5) We were LOSING at the time of the play. People saying that play "lost us the game" are insane because even if we had spiked it, there's no guarnatee we score a TD.
It was absolutely the right call and the right decision. One player on the DL changed the result which is what elite players do. Had nothing to do with the playcall.

2012 was the worst. I still cringe thinking about it.

Part of my sports soul died in 2012 and I still remember sitting the dome for an hour after that play.

Aaron Murray should have ignored Richt and spiked the ball anyway. That is what he was calling for. With no timeouts and the clock winding down, spike the ball and set up a play. There is no guarantee we win even if we spike the ball, but I like our chances with time to set up a play versus trying to run a quick play while confused. Then again, Richt and Bobo likely would have called a silly play that never had a chance.
Yesterday was just BS.

This is way worse than 2012. Not even close
2012 was just an amazing game that we never thought we'd win. Super depressing, yes, but not like yesterday.

This. And now tied for these is the 2016 Got Dayam Super Bowl.

The entire bad stretch in 2012-2013 that included the Braves infield fly call, 2012 SEC title game, and the Broncos losing on the hail mary to the Ravens in the playoffs. All 3 teams could have won championships, Broncos 100% would have.

The Falcons' sickening meltdown was about 10% as painful as the Dawgs loss to Bama in the SECCG.
I will never get over Mark Richt's idiotic failure to stop the clock. NEVER

I'm also a Jags fan. I'm pretty much dead inside.

It doesn't matter. With 5 seconds left and the clock ticking down, logic dictates you spike the ball to stop the clock and set up a play. The offense was completely confused at that point, with Murray wanting to spike the ball and Richt shouting run a play. Again, there's no guarantee we win either way, but our chances are better if we have the time to set up a play. At least then everyone knows what the play is, knows their assignment, and are all on the same page.

I still to this day cant believe we didn't spike the ball.
And I swear to you, a little piece of me died that day.

I can't say that yesterday comes close to the seccg, though, as annoying as it was.
