We might stop one more third and long per game versus Grantham's 2013 campaign. But that still leaves a lot of fans questioning our methods.
We ranked 66th in 3rd down defensive conversion rate last year...77 of 193...40%

"IF" we just stop one more third & "anything" this year vs. last year that would drop us to...64 of 193...33%

That would've ranked UGA 14th in 3rd down defense in "13.... I'll take that kind of improvement this year...

Which begs the question (that I'm sure some stat Dawg can/will dig up):

How many opponent scores came from blown 3rd down coverages?

"As it stands, Grantham was 5 yards away from having the exact same endorsement that is making everyone believe in Pruitt. So, I don’t know what to think. "

I agree. But think about the sieve that was our defense against thegames vs the UKs, UTs, GTs, etc under CTG when we should have blown them out. D is scheme and "coaching up smarts". Put players in the right places and they'll make the plays, if they are D1 calibre. CTG didn't do that for whatever reason on a consistent basis. Hopefully CJP will. Jury's still out.
