Yeah let's sue our athletes. That'll make the recruits flock to Athens

This changes very little in the long run. We can win the next two with Chubb. Gurley is back for the most important part of our season with the playoff in sight.
The way this whole thing was handled is the frustrating part. How could UGA have been that far off in their estimate? The fact that he was turned in by a jaded memorabilia guy makes it worse.

Been saying this same shite for 3 weeks! That's why I thought Chubb should start even if Gurley were re-instated: because he was selfish and put himself before the team. Suits the shite out of me if he doesn't come back.

This is setting up perfectly for the reverse last year Auburn bullshite. He returns for their game and annihilates their defense, crushes their dreams, and subjugates their women.

Forgive Gurley.
Yes I have changed my mind.

UGA never released any statements estimating anything... Allens attorney was the one with the $400 from Allen statement. In looking back it's obvious that UGA uncovered other vendors who payed Tud & turned the info over to the NCAA & thats why it drug out so long...
As far as UGA appealing, that's a given even tho they turned in the facts themselves. Emmert said himself that UGA did a great job in their fact finding & due diligence in the matter, so I think UGA is hoping for a reduction in the penalty based on their cooperation...
I don't think an appeal stands a chance in hell of being approved tho...

How dumb can you possibly be if you're saying we should sue him, bench him, or not care if he just decides to walk away?
Suing him will ensure us the #1 recruiting class every year for the next decade.
Bench him? Not care if he quits? We're talking about the same guy here, right? The best RB (player?) in the country? One of the best 5 players this program has ever seen? The one that has admitted fault, apologized, will come back for Auburn, run for 200 yards, and lead this team to it's first MNC in 3.5 decades?
Oh yeah, that guy...
And don't be further delusional and say we can win it without him, cause you will then be asked to check in to a mental hospital.

There is literally no reason whatsoever for us to sue gurley. I mean the thought of it is just mindnumbingly stupid.

Agreed and retracted several times now.

Wait, what? Gurley can be personally held responsible for UGA losing games/revenue? A school should be able to sue one of their players for losing games? Seriously?
Sure. Guess how many 5* recruits we will get after the first lawsuit? Sue the people that paid him, not the player.

I agree 100% on that.
Can't we all just accept the fact that he did it, he's being punished for it, and move on? If he decides to stay and play after the four games, the team, coaches and fans should welcome him back with open arms. If he doesn't come back, good luck to him at the next level and let's enjoy the Michel and Chubb show.

I just am not sure what to think of the way the NCAA passes down punishment. It is like a father saying, "Admit you did it or I will come down hard on you". Then you admit you did it, and then your father beats the crap out of you. Seems like the NCAA is just asking schools and players to lie.

That adds to the frustration - I would hope that the big brains that applied for reinstatement would have known what the outcome would be, and that no reduction would be given, and that an appeal would be worthless.
The conspiracy theorist in me wants to believe that they knew this would happen all along, and that they knew the team would come together in Gurley's absence, and that handling it this way would end up putting more heat on the NCAA...but M. Night Shyamalan himself would be hard pressed to believe that one.
