I highly doubt he woudl just walk away

Given that his actions don't reflect hightly on his "team" concept, that isn't a far-fetched idea.

This is what really pisses me off. To me it looks like we legitimately thought he was going to be active this week thus keeping JJ Green at DB. now he's missed out on reps and the offensive gameplan when we really need him for depth.

I wonder if he will come back

Scouts have said his money-making business does not affect his stock. I haven't heard anybody make predictions as to what would happen with his stock if he left...now. I'm by no means an expert when it comes to draft value, but I see 2 problems with him leaving early:

1) Brings his character into question...the ability to finish the drill and not be a quitter. For me, that's more of a character issue than accepting money from a memorabilia dealer, but I also realize that's just my own opinion and scouts may not care.

2) He loses experience/gametime/training. Quit now and training ends, immediately. No more practice. No more games. Any training from that point on is done on his own watch, with his own money, and NFL scouts are to take his word for it.

If leaving early doesn't hurt a player's stock, why don't more high value picks leave mid season...or bow out the last few games?

NCAA from a PR move did not want to announce this yesterday with their politicians and celebs making the playoff crap. They waited to dump this on us today. We still win the next 2 and Gurley destroys Auburn.

Based on the timeline in the NCAA announcement and the details of the charge, I don't see how UGA could have expected to get him back this week.

quote:

The University submitted its original reinstatement request on Wednesday, Oct. 22. The NCAA requested additional information on Friday, Oct. 24, which it received from the university on Saturday, Oct. 25, and Sunday, Oct. 26. The NCAA issued its decision to the university on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 28.

Sounds like we knew all along that it was way more than a $400 violation.

Played our two best games of the season WITHOUT TG. We have no reason to believe they'll let up now.

Good article/points. Once again, IF he does come back to play, I expect to see what Moreno did his last year and maybe even on a greater scale.

You could say that about every player that's ever been in trouble.

So can we now institute a permaban on any idiot that claims to have an inside source? Not even joking.

Forgive Gurley.

Yes, I have changed my mind.

My guess was wrong, obviously. I don't sit in on the NCAA meetings, neither does any other message board poster. I only speculated based on what was publicly known. It wasn't public knowledge that this went on for multiple years and that other dealers claimed dollar figures over 3K.

I made a guess, I was wrong. Big deal.

@Bronc

Wait, what? Gurley can be personally held responsible for UGA losing games/revenue? A school should be able to sue one of their players for losing games? Seriously?
