Those numbers are not correct. We make $2.7 to $3M per home game.

If you have questions specifically pertaining to UGA, you're far better off posting here.

The SECR is the "main board" of sorts for all the SEC fanbases, so most threads started there get diluted real quick with a bunch of trash.

Thanks buddy. I'll learn more as I go.
I tried posting another thread there but it wasn't really football related.

I think JAX pays us just enough to make it work out$ wise. It is not a windfall by any means. It is popular with some UGA fans who like to make the trip and to those in the area. It also helps our brand a bit regionally. I think it is a disadvantage to us overall on the field. It also diminishes our options for marquis OOC games and of course, one less home game for recruiting.

You've been a part of that first hand, so obviously you are closer to the situation than myself or pretty much anyone else on here.

But I've just never agreed with that line of thinking. If it was some sort of contest of "who is more disadvantaged than the other" then yeah, I guess we would lose since they just bus over while we fly. But it's only a 90 minute flight, and I believe one of the first things Kirby got approval for when hired was flying out of Epps instead of hartsfield. So I dont' really think the bussing from B-M to Epps, flying 90 minutes, then getting a police escort to St.Augustine 2 days before the game really makes a hill of bean's difference.

Didn't seem like many UGa folks were talking about unfair advantages in the 70s and 80s. It came up in the 90s when we were getting shellacked, which was entirely to do with them being far superior to us in every way.

Your other points are valid too, but the "on teh field" disadvantage due to travel is just not legit, IMO.

The travel plan is much better than it used to be for Jax. We used to bus down to Madison for home games, so we still rode the bus an hour and stayed in a hotel, but Jax is different. It's s plane ride travel away game. Hard to explain, but I'd rather have a home and an away. It's more like an away game for us every year. I guess UF has it the same way, but it seems more like home to them than us. I mean, it's th flagship UNiveristy of Florida and it is played in one of Florida's biggest cities.

I'd at least like to see it move between Jax and ATL...

Again I know you have a different perspective that many of us don't, but man I wont' ever be able to get behind this, nor home and home.

Jax is one of the few things that UGA has that is TRULY unique in cfb anymore. Sure other teams have neutral site games, but not like ours. Moving it to atlanta would just feel gross. And I love atlanta, I hope I live here forever. But the dome just doesn't "feel" like GA/FL.

I technical don't want it in ATL. I feel like it would be more like a home game in that venue Vs Jax tho... I get that it is a Big deal for a lot of folks to go to the wlocp every year and I respect that tradition. I just don't think it is the best scenario for our football team.

Basically I'm wondering if what I was told by my 2 uncles who are UGA alumni is true- that UF is scared to come to Athens.

Yes, it's true. The meeting took place on a bitterly cold day in February of 1933. A Wednesday, I believe it was. The UGA AD was surprised to see the Florida AD and two of his assistants waiting outside his office in the snow when he arrived at work that morning. But, he quickly invited them inside and as they warmed up by the fireplace over black coffee and biscuits, the Florida AD opened up about how scared Florida, the team, fans, etc were of Athens. It's been said that there wasn't a dry eye in the room by the time he was done with his plea. And so, it was agreed that, from that day forward we'd meet the gators in Jacksonvile every year. As the two ADs shook hands and were about to part ways, the tooth fairy flew out of an assistant ADs arse and started doing the human beat box and a break dancing contest broke out and shouldn't you be doing your pre-algebra homework or a book report or something for 7th grade tomorrow?

It has to be a mutual agreement...especially when two teams are in the same division. If they were scared to come to Athens, but we said tough toodles, they would have to come to Athens. And vice versa.

Definitely not. I think we got the last laugh at Spurrier last year, though, when we "Hung half a hundred" back on him.

Scheduling is EVERYTHING.We almost always played a patsy the week before Jax in the VD days while UF played the Aubbies. Spurrier chenged the schedule when he came on board plus AU was dropped as a permanent opponent. It made a HUGE difference in the outcome of the game but most on this board will never acknowledge it.

Yeah, as I've gotten older I've wondered more and more about things I think are "facts" because my family told me so.

Ever notice how that old parental saw of "How do you know you don't like it if you haven't tried it?" doesn't apply to stuff like heroin and ritual murder?

Fair enough, but the state of Florida gets all that tax money from food/drinks/hotel etc. As a good business move for our state it should be in GA every other year

I've always said we should get some millionaires together and build a stadium straddling the state line and we sit in GA and they sit in FL. Their fans could stay in St Aug/Jax and we can stay in SSI/Jekyll. Nobody would ever hvae to leave their state!

yet you put the stadium south of Valdosta on 75 huh?...that's like an easy 2-3 hours from where you say the fans should stay...

I think you should have your pic show it on 95 with half sitting in Camden and the other half in Nassau...that might make more sense..except for the river and all...

I do believe it was started for South Georgia Dawg Fans to have a closer venue than Athens..that is what I've always heard...back then fans weren't driving loaded down Yukons down I95 doing 80 miles an hour with their AC blowing cold and their Widespread Panic record blaring over the speakers with all their tailgate stuff in tow...it was a little tougher to travel

it's also "neutral" in that there are many..many...Dawg fans in the city...may be because of the game...but Jax has tons of Georgia supporters
