touche'...as you know I'm like 40 minutes from Everbank so it bothers me none that the game is in Jax...I only get to Athens for usually one game a season...it's a helluva drive for me....and not surprised about the Gator contingency in ATL...I'll add that to my reasons for hardly ever going there...

I get that it is a tradition for many folks and an attainable ticket/game for SE Ga and NFLA dawgs. I just don't think it is in our best interest from a football standpoint.

So I didn't read every comment, but having lived in South Ga and Jacksonville for many years, here is my take.

1. It's a great and unique tradition, with the overall record showing that neither team has much of an advantage.
2. There are many many UGA fans in south Ga that don' have the time or money to travel to Athens often. This is their game. It is great for the fan base and for recruiting in that area.
3. Jax is in FL, but most people will tell you it is a south Ga city, because it is the largest city anywhere near there. If it were 50 miles to the North in Ga, would it make that big of a difference?
When I grew up, to shop, go to a movie, go on a date, go to a hospital, Jax was the place. Waycross and St Mary's are just not the same.
4. Jax is the largest city that is close to the border. Moving it to a Jax and GA Dome thing sounds good, but the Dome is all GA, while Jax is more neutral, so UF would never go for that.
5. While Jax is overrun with UF fans (especially since the ol Ball Sack got them all out of the closet, there are very many UGA fans there too. The old saying is that no one who lives in Jax was born in Jax, so it is not as overrun with UF as you might think. There are lots of FSU, Miami, ND, Michigan, Ohio State, etc there as well.

IMO it should never leave. It is a special game with a lot of advantages for the teams. I don't care if you took a plane, train or automobile, once you run on that field, you should be all-in at your best.

$$. Tradition. 50/50 fan split. Bowl game atmosphere. National exposure regardless of records.

I mean the players... The money is nominal and this game would be big regardless of locations

I seriously doubt that UF fears us in any way. Let's face it though, playing at the WLOCP is not a neutral stadium.

A few years back someone on here suggested a new stadium be built with the state line running down the 50 yd line. As long as it is somewhere near the coast, I'm all in for that, and would contribute money toward its completion.

It's always a 50/50 crowd split. There is always the saying that Florida takes a bus while Georgia flies to the game, but honestly, seeing how awesome charter flights are, is that really a big deal?

Yea, the reason I'd always heard was that UGA wanted the game for the fans in South GA and recruiting. I've never heard the "Florida's scared" take until this thread.

Try this. Ride your bike full speed into a tree 30 times... Then ride a bus for an hour... Then sit in a kid's high chair for 90 minutes, then ride a bus to a clinic for 30 minutes and then finally get treated for your tree injuries... Then walk home at 2 am...
Other than that it's the same as a home game...

How do most fans react when a player does something selfish or somehow otherwise puts himself above the team? Well, we all know the ugly answer to that one…

So, it’s pretty hilarious when these same fans are perfectly willing to endure an obvious disadvantage to the program with a permanent away game………all because they don't want to give up their fall beach vacations in tank top land.

Hypocrites.

The River Styx runs under our stadium and then uphill past the cemetery and into the creek that feeds the oconee. Of course it does this on the 33rd parallel....
