How about this:

"It's our responsibility as coaches and as an offensive staff to get the ball to the playmakers and allow them to make plays," Smart said. "I don't want anybody to think that we're blaming the offensive line. Do we think we've got to play better there? Yeah.

"They have played well sometimes, but we just haven't done it with a level of consistency. We've got to help them by what we call and what we do scheme-wise."

Does this sound familiar? This was quoted from Kirby Smart.

the exact same receivers we had at the beginning of the year.

We are seeing much less of Reggie Davis, chigbu and Stanley and much more of wims, Godwin, and Ridley.

Muschamp had 3 OCs in 4 years, so not sure that's the lesson Kirby should take.

Just to offer a counterpoint, saban fired his OC after his first year at bama after 2007. Not saying that's the ideal route to take (it probably isn't) but firing a coordinator after your first year on the job isn't like it's THE worst or most unprecedented thing ever. Now if you start doing it every year you've got problems.

Dude. He's talking about Kirby. He is saying why didn't Kirby get them the ball earlier? It's a legitimate criticism. Although, I believe one of them (Ridley?) was injured the first 2-3 weeks.

What all of this points out is what i have been saying....when you are losing, the perception is that there is no talent. However, when you win, all of a sudden there is talent. Face it...we had enough talent to win 10 games this year.

But, I am satisfied that we are finally showing some improvement. We are making progress. I have seen progress from the team the last 3 weeks. The team is gaining traction, and hopefully we will continue the momentum into next year.

Yes. But they were on the team at the start of the season. Whose fault is it that they were not on the field?

I'm not sure you can fire Chaney unless we have an absolute sure hire. Its just so weird how inconsistent we have been from game to game. Hopefully its just a player-personal adjustment period. Even though the offense only scored 6 points (could have been 9) on Saturday, we did rack up a good bit of yards on a very good defense.

Godwin was playing a lot early on, so I'll leave him out.

Wims has roughly triple the practice reps he had before the first game. Ridley was here in spring, so he's only had twice as many.

That's probably why they're playing more now.

You would have liked it a lot more if Godwin had turned around and looked at Chubb. There was no one within 10 yards of him and had Godwin thrown to him, he would have walked in for a TD.

Even if Chubb would have scored on that, I would have absolutely hated a throw back to him. I want zero part of Terry Godwin throwing across his body. That could so easily have lead to a pick six.

In hindsight, it would have been better if Chubb just faked the pitch to Godwin and kept it himself. I didn't hate the playcall though. That play works relatively often. The Auburn defender just made a good play.

Wasn't Ridley or Wims hurt at the beginning fo the season? Seems like one of them was.

It's possible. but when you see Calvin Ridley and other freshmen making an impact early and often....and then our other receivers struggling so much, it seems like they should have been in the game getting some game experience. I get it....but to say we have no talent...or we have different receivers...or any other excuse? They are just that. Excuses.

I mean, Wims is a Junior. It's not like he has to get used to the college game. You can either play or you can't at WR. But if the coaches are misreading the talent then it is on them. It's not like they are going to hit a specific number of practice reps and then all of a sudden they are ready.

When I saw Ridley for the first time earlier in the season, I said, "He's ready. Why aren't they getting him the ball?"

Because they weren't ready earlier. JUCO's and injured true freshmen WR's are gonna take time. When your best guys aren't ready for whatever reasons, you play the less talented players, and suffer because of it.

Chubb was running naked (no blockers). There was 1 defender free/unblocked to make the stop.

Sometimes, Chubb wins that match up and sometimes he doesnt. Usually, we run to where we have numbers (a blocker for every defender).

I like throwing to Eason better.

It's just not nearly that simple. Wims came from JUCO. Ridley is just a kid. Catching the ball is the easy part.

Still think the OC is calling good games? Cheney is HORRIBLE! If CKS is gonna be the man, Cheney better be on a plane, bus, or cab headed out of Athens fast. If he stays next year, I'll take bets we don't win 8 games
