Brendon Douglas has done everything asked of him by the coaching staff. Without him we would have been in a world of hurt due to injuries the last 3 years. He could have gotten much more playing time at some other schools but he chose to stay here and do what he could. Don't know why some fans are so down on him.
Hence, I will thus say, he's a DGD. Forsooth.

Is he a starting RB for an SEC offense? No... could you do a *hell* of a lot worse for a 2nd/3rd string option... most definitely, and we have.

*Any* team is going to be in a pretty bad spot if they're starting their 3rd string RB other than maybe Alabama, and even still, I highly doubt they want to be in the spot.

I do get a little anxious when he's carrying the football, but hell, I spent an entire season nervous every time Lambert took a snap... Who, despite what I and many others have said to his detriment is IMO another guy that is probably going to be underappreciated for his efforts when it's all said and done. We'll never know what Ramsey would have been able to do, but I think it was pretty clear that Schotty had *no* clue what to do with Faton, so I envision a 6-7 win season last year would have been in the cards without him (Ramsey more mistake prone from limited sample size... probably costs us Mizzou, Auburn, maybe Penn St, and probably at least one other that we don't expect... maybe Ga Southern.) As much as I don't want another entire season of Lambert starting, you have to like that you have the option to start a guy with some experience in game 1 if you want to and ease Eason in to this whole SEC thing.

Also, Sony and Chubb have both had costly fumbles too....but nobody remembers those. And it was proven above that his fumbles per carry were less than Sony's

Well, they both had many more opportunities to fumble as well.Yea,I get the per carry thing but in all honesty,if a back is game changer which Chubb is and Sony is close enough you can live with an occasional fumble.

Douglass is a DGD but he's not a difference maker nor a 1st or 2nd team SEC RB.

Yes,we're in trouble if he's going to be the feature

We redshirted Crowder. He should be ready. And don't forget Brian Herrien. I think he might surprise.

Sleeper who got totally overlooked because of academic issues that made it seem like he might not qualify. Has size and ability to be a solid RB.

My thoughts exactly. He looks SEC ready right now. Hope he picks up the playbook quickly.

would you apply that same logic to Richard Samuel's RB abilities?

Yep. running to where your blocks were supposed to be is a recipe for failure in UGA football. Most of TG3's success was reversing field and cutting against the grain....probably because everyone on the field knew where the ball was going.

We need to coach Douglas to go the wrong way....problem solved.

RSIV was a victim of Richt's diminishing vision for the team, as a whole. Bouncing him around from RB to LB back to RB set him up for failure.

That said, his tendency to run while totally upright drove me insane.

So this thread is long and I did not read all of it, so this may be German. But it is reported that the fracture was an "open fracture" meaning the bone tore through some muscle and came through the skin. A little more serious sounding than the typical fracture. He has bone and muscle that has to heal.

I sincerely hope that can get him to a point where he can protect it and play early without any risk.
