I'd rather have Newman, all day and every day. He's better, more athletic, a dual threat, and more experienced. Smart likes slow, unathletic QBs it seems. He is more athletic than Fromm. Beggars can't be choosy I guess.

If there isn't a transfer my money is on Mathis.

Possibly, if he's clear. However, if either Mathis or Beck is our starter next year, I don't think we have a shot to get Vandergriff or Williams next year. It would just be another Fields situation. Those kinds of QBs aren't going to sit.

Then again, maybe one of them would be great.

Let's see what Brock does first. If he's a world beater Kriby won't have another Fromm Feilds situation. Fromm leaving should kill all notion of loyalty keeping the less talented kid on the field.

With UGAs offensive weapons, this could still be his best option.

Also, a more dynamic offense could lure some other kids.

Either way, let's just fricking win.

Agreed on all points. I just like Newman for all the reasons I stated. I just want a more dynamic, athletic QB who gives us another dimension. I don't even know if D'Eriq King is even an option. His passing doesn't seem to be as good as his running. We need a QB who can throw it well.

Absolutely on the winning part.

We don't even know when, or if, Mathis will be cleared for contact. And he was raw before the brain cyst.

Choosing Chase Brice over other options would be unforgivable, imo. His only qualification is being a QB from Georgia.

I was team Brice until some of these guys with experience came out. King, Costello, Brown, and Newman all have invaluable QB experience. Chase Brice has years of eligibility and the Syracuse game.

I'd gladly take Brice but I agree with you Crow, I think you have to take one of Newman, Costello, or King if they are willing. I would include Brown but don't know shite about him outside of what Bruce Feldman told me.

He's been doing non contact, film work, strentgh training, and 7 on 7 for months.

Not at all the same as actually practicing. I'd love to be wrong but do you really think Mathis is ready to go after a year of not playing football and still not yet cleared to do so?

He looks great in a non-contact capacity.

I seriously doubt Mathis , ever plays real minutes at QB for the Dawgs.

Forget the fact he had brain surgery 9 months ago; which would end it for me.... he is extremely raw.

By the end of spring there is an excellent chance Beck is ahead of him.

I hope I’m wrong.... the kid throws a great ball, is big and fast... I just think he his way behind now.
