Crazy idea here folks, but what if the reason Bauta was taking the 2nd team snaps a couple of days in a row is because he is the starter and the other two are battling it out for backup?
Not saying this is the case but it makes a little bit of sense because, lets face it, we arent installing much for ULM, no matter how seriously the coaches tell us we are taking that game.

My opinion is that this is far too late in the game to be "wasteful" with first team reps (especially reps at 100% speed).
It's a 2 man race I believe. CMR and CSquatty both know they have the cupcake as a great thing to share. ULM is the final exam. I expect them to stick with that leader who emerges.

Coaches don't have "battles" to see who will be second string one week away from kickoff.

You chose to focus on my use of the word battling, and quoted me as saying battles? Would you have felt better if I had said competing?
Right on man. I said right there in my post that it was a crazy idea and that I wasn't saying that it was the case. Simply throwing it out there as a possibility. Everything that every single one of us message board hacks says here before the season starts is pure conjecture.
You and Beans are probably right. I was just thinking a little outside of conventional wisdom, as we know, being conventional isn't always wise.

Battle just makes it sound like an intense race for second place which I found ironic. And I knew you were just spitballing in your post I wasn't attacking you but there do seem to be some people on here who really believe that Ramsey and Lambert are playing for the second slot (deeprig etc.) so I was just throwing my doubts in about that. 8 more days man, go dawgs

After listening to CMR's presser I think it does sound like a 2 man race now. My own speculation is that Ramsey was somehow lax and the coaches knew he needed some competition to sharpen him. The reason that CMR said he was "more confused after practice than before" a few days back is because by then Lambert had picked it up a notch. CMR said at his presser that Lambert had started slow. I think the more that Lambert picked it up as time has progressed - the more he added confusion to the picture. Perhaps the coaches didn't even expect GL to be serious competition but were truly just using him to apply pressure to BR. Surprise- we actually might have another starter over here. This is simply my speculation combined with what we now know in hindsight. Also, I think that Bauta has some character qualities that CMR respects AND wishes maybe would rub off on BR and/or GL, however, the reason he has been singing FB praises lately is really because he knows it's over and doesn't want him to feel bad. Richt would do exactly that - kid competed his heart out and wants to acknowledge his effort to build him as a man even in defeat. Just my 2c
Bingo. Ramsey wouldn't have been the back-up last year if Bauta was better.

Thank you sir. Also my instinct about CMR is that he wants to get behind one guy if he can, however, I'm wondering if they might see some strategic advantage in stringing this along to add to CNS possible confusion coming into Athens. How big is that advantage? Maybe keep the Tide guessing?
This is me basically spitballing now.

I can't wait to see which QB will throw away the game this year against South Carolina.
Although Bobo has to get some of the blame on the 1st and Goal blunder.
As they say on Tosh.0....Enjoy.

Honestly, I hope all their focus is on the games at hand, but more importantly, South Carolina.
I would think our staff would be tired of getting embarrassed by Spurrier.

Makes me wonder if during this very high profile QB battle, if JPark second-guessed his decision to transfer out...

Me too. So perhaps trying to keep the OBC guessing? Possible? Am I completely off base here?

Schotty wants a QB that’s consistent but can make ‘a big-time throw’

Dawgnation again... lotta stuff, a few excerpts...

On Brice Ramsey’s attributes …
“Brice obviously has a ton of natural ability. Very raw. Coming into the spring he was a little behind just because now he’s in a new system and a guy coming from a Wing-T offense and stuff. He’s had some really terrific performances. He had a scrimmage a couple of weeks ago where he was just lights out and did a terrific job. But, again, what we’ve got to get him to do is make sure he makes the same consistent decisions day in and day out. He can’t have a great performance one day and then take a step back the next day. That’s something he and I have talked a lot about and that he’s working very hard on. But, again, he’s a guy with tremendous, tremendous up side.”
On Greyson Lambert’s attributes …
“It is quite amazing what he’s been able to do only being on campus since mid-July and truly having as good a grasp on the playbook as the other guys. That’s saying a whole lot about him. Certainly being able to graduate from Virginia in a three-year period of time is a pretty impressive accolade as well. He’s a guy who certainly has intelligence, he gets the game, he understands football. It kind of makes sense to him, if you will. We certainly like the fact that he’s got some experience. He started nine games up at Virginia and has been under that fire.”
On Faton Bauta’s attributes …
“Probably one of the hardest workers we have on the team. He’s one of those guys that every second he can spend in this building he does. He’s either working on the playbook and mastering the offense or just doing something to take care of his body or to work on something fundamental. So hard work just jumps off of him. He does a good job of getting us in and out of bad plays to good plays. He’s also had those days where he’s done a great job throwing it around and hitting big plays and taking advantage of one-on-one matchups. Definitely a guy that we don’t overlook. He knows he’s got to do what he does well.”

Well, this is scary as frick. Hasn't BR been in Athens for 3 years, now?
Posted on 8/28/15 at 3:49 pm to VoxDawg
Yeah, it kind of worries me that schotty says BR was "a little behind" this spring.
The system is just as new to Bauta, and Lambert has been on campus for like 6 hours.

Ramsey was behind Murray and Mason, and Richt/Bobo spent most of their time with Murray and Mason.
And Ramsey knew he was 3rd, then battling for 2nd string when Murray gone, and most likely didn't prep all that hard. He knew he had a great arm and thought he was a shoe-in.

Exactly this. Therefore the coaches knew he needed some competition. They didn't know the competition would actually compete.

Steve Spurrier doesn't give a shite who our QB is. Same as all the other coaches we will face. The QB position is an unknown, so a good coach will not be too crazy in game planning against inexperience. I don't think uga would play too different with easnt of the qbs anyway.

I'm sure this is true. Coaches don't gameplan for QBs.
