Dude. They were going to make them free. All they had to do was show up and get their picture made, and they would have a picture ID. Some of the states even provided transportation to get their picture made. My thing is...if you have no transportation to get your picture made, how are you going to get to the poll?
Not only that, but article that was linked by you was written by liberal news sources. AND, if you read the article (I clicked on 2-3 and read) they were hardly conclusive, just comparing turnouts of the elections prior to the law and immediately after the laws were passed. It didn't take into account any other factors that might have affected those turnouts, such as the issues, candidates etc.

It doesn't matter if you like Trump or not, you gotta hold your nose and vote to keep the Supreme Court out of the hands of liberal justices who will gut your gun rights, gut immigration policies and ultimately gut the Constitution in favor of executive action.

It cost me over $35 to renew my Driver's License, and $15 to obtain a birth certificate.

They're free in Georgia. That's why they're deemed constitutional. And surprisingly, minority turnout increased with voter ID laws. Different than expected and certainly not as maliciously racist as you want to believe.

We're still paying for the slavery that ended 150 yrs ago. I can't speak for all southerners but no way.

Nope. It's one option of the many documents that they let you choose from. It's to prove that you're a citizen. Because only citizens are allowed to vote in this country. But you'll have an issue with that for some reason...
