Georgia Football is going to win the National Championship this year. I'm not even kidding.
Can you feel it?

I was one last time, so I damn sure better see one that I will remember. I fear I don't have much time left.

Nevermind that both have been eradicated in the US.......

Are my kids vaccinated? Yes. Was I wondering if they would be one of the acceptable level of side effect victims for the greater good? You bet your arse.
CDC
And let's be honest with ourselves here...it's easy to identify problems when people have immediate reactions. However, there is absolutely no way to know what long term effects to brain development could be happening from introducing all the chemicals we do through food, medications and yes...vaccinations to young children. The timelines are too long and there are too many other possible contributing causes to either identify or eliminate anything definitively.
Is the risk worth the benefit? Absolutely. But, if you think the FDA and pharma industry are making decisions and operating effectively, solely in your best interests, your naive.

quote:Yep, pretty much said it perfectly. And I just wanted to clarify (not directed at you or anyone in particular) but in this thread I haven't been proposing these meds for everyone. I was just referring to treatment of specific illnesses. I think children (and society in general) are overmedicated enough as it is. And I worry about how much worse it's going to get in the future.

We want too much instant gratification and results with minimal work/taking the easy way out and unfortunately one way that manifests is plenty of people wanting a pill for everything (both patIents and docs). Obviously I'm not referring to everything, there are plenty of treatments that have significant morbidity/mortality benefits that I think are completely justified.

introducing all the chemicals we do through food...
Maybe this could be a sign that I'm getting older, but this is something I've been trying to look into recently..... And it's not shocking to discover that all the advice given from on high is, as usual, 100% wrong and backwards. That the majority of your diet should be made up of grains, or that fat and cholesterol are evil......but now it turns out that grains in all their processed forms are one of the worst things you can put in your body....and that fat and cholesterol are essential to good health.
I doubt very many people actually think about the government recomended food pyramid when they eat, but go out and try avoiding processed grains etc and all the chemical laced garbage.....and you'll realize that that shite makes up 95% of whats available in most stores and restaurants.

I recently got into this same line of thinking. It's gross how over processed shite is these days
Great example. Always used to get fat free sour cream. The amount of unpronounceable ingredients in FF vs regular Sour Cream is frightening.
I hijacked my own thread

Yep. It is fricked up. The government, etc demonized fat which sparked the fat-free craze, but all the food companies did with their "fat free" junk was replace the fat with sugars and chemicals to try and still make it taste decent.......making it even more unhealthy.
I haven't really had to change all that much. Worst part though is that I have to travel a lot for work and there's just not a lot of options. Our lifestyles and need for convenience is responsible for a lot of the processed chemical stuff too.
