All classes of psychotropic drugs can and have caused these and many other terrible side-effects. So, just pick just pick whichever one you want.....

Don't have a dog in this fight.....BUT....the argument either way cannot be made unless you know exactly what he was taking. None of them act/react the same. Some could cause aggressive behaviour while taking them and some could cause it when stopping abruptly, but they don't all act the same. So, until any of us know exactly what he was on we are only guessing.

However, we DO know that almost if not all drugs have side effects. MOST can have serious side effects, but are typically rare. If you don't want any side effects at all your only option is to live completely drug free. That is very difficult to do today. Even very beneficial medications can have serious side effects, and next time you go for something as mundane and common as a colonoscopy or a tonsilectomy check to consent form to see what side effects are possible. It's mind boggling.

Actually I'm reciting this stuff because it's stuff that I know and have studied for plenty of years.

Well, no offense, but if this is true then it only reaffirms my skepticism and fear about the over-prescribing of these types of drugs.

AskAPatient comes directly from patients that have experience with the drug. It's non-partisan, non Big Pharma.......And your condescension to what these people have to say speaks volumes on this entire topic as a whole.

But, if you want me to bury you with other sources, by all means, just say the word..........

Good luck finding a doc that makes clinical decisions based on "askapatient.com."

If you read the comments I cut n pasted, the patient describes how her doc took her off Prozak after it produced the hallucinations and the rest of the side-effects. (the ones you say don't exist) It had nothing to do with a website. But go ahead and chortle and ignore that obvious part.

More horror stories from Pages 3 and 4....... LINK........

"It made me nuts I had no mental problems before taking it was not aware it was prozac as it was labled under it "F" formal name. Was not told it could do anything to my thinking thought I just went nuts. Freak show all the way went to a store acused a girl of sleeping with my boyfreind I have no idea why I did that broke things had temper/crying fits/rages then became suicidal when I quit taking it....."

"It didn't help my depression/anxiety. I don't remember my exact dosage, but I was on it for almost a year. I stopped it abruptly, without tapering. This was terrible and made me want to kill myself, violent, extremely angry, agitated......"

"Mania....Hyper, talkative, self hurting herself, aggressive, releasing bodily fluids purposefully, swearing...completely flipped into a different person!"

"Initially, I felt marvelous and wished I had started it earlier. But that did not last long, and soon enough, I was experiencing incredible amounts of anger, rage, feeling out of control. I was doing things I've never done. I realized I needed to come off of it when I found myself pointing a gun at a roomate to make his shut up."

Its not condescension toward the people submitting the comments, more the fact that some people think they're a source of scientific fact. So I assume by reading those comments you also have access to all the other necessary information too regarding their medical history, medications, social environment, compliance, etc right? There's a reason clinical studies control for lots of variables and it's because they're crucial.

And I never said the drugs aren't over prescribed, I definitely agree that they are. That was never the focus of this.

Go ahead and bathe the great unwashed in evidence though. Just get me some peer reviewed stuff that's actually legit instead of blogs and anonymous comments.

ETA: because sometimes there is confusion about this, just making sure you realize people don't get paid to prescribe certain meds.

I think it's pretty much beaten to death time to move on to better stuff. I think you're supposed to be choosing decade/genre in the Pandora's box thread.

Nobody is presenting AskAPatient.com as some sort of definitive scientific fact. It's actually kind of awkward that you would assume that.

Look. Let's rewind here...........

I said correctly that psychiatric drugs can contribute to adverse side-effects such as hallucinations, aggression, violent and suicidal tendencies, etc........and you chortled and said that they don't.

Then, I provide non-biased everyday examples of people who have taken psychiatric drugs that detail experiencing these exact side-effects..............and you chortle again and say that 2+2=5.

And as absurd as this is....The funniest part though is that my side even has to be argued. We are literally talking about powerful mind-altering drugs being diagnosed for people with "mental illnesses" that often times can't even be proved actually exist. It's a guessing game. Here take these. They might work. OR they might make you strip naked and jump off your balcony and charge a cop. Bottoms up!.........

Twilight Zone.

HEre's another site called SSRI stories..... LINK.....

SOme lady who was prescribed Prozak to help her quit smoking ended up committed to the loony bin a few weeks later, so after recovering she started a message board to reach out to other people who may have had similiar experiences.

Now it's an archive with over 5,000 news stories, scientific journal articles, videos about the common adverse side-effects of psychiatric drugs including violence.....

Very exciting reading for a Friday afternoon! Woo hoo!!!!

Last Thoughts On Anthony Hill:

-if he hadn't been prescribed psychiatric drugs, would he still be alive today?
-if he had never enlisted in the military, would he have developed a "mental disorder"?
-if he had survived the shooting, would he have then been committed to a psych ward to be prescribed a whole new cocktail of drugs with a whole new batch of side-effects to "treat" the side-effects from the damage done by his first drug prescription?
-what were the actual symptoms he was suffering and how do they compare to the results after "treatment": freaking out and getting killed.
-Do those marching and protesting the policeman who killed him even asked any of these questions?
-What time are the lawyers who work for the drug companies and the FDA teeing off tomorrow morning?
-s.i.y.g.'e.

We ignore our kids and let Xbox, iPads and tv raise them; we downplay the role of a two parent family; we minimalize the role of fathers in raising young boys; we only reward and recognize success through how much revenue mom and dad can generate thus encouraging our kids to be raised by daycare employees and surrogates; we pump ourselves full of chemicals through our diet from birth to death; our televisions and Internet are free flowing freeways of all manner of stuff for kids to consume; and then when our kids show signs of abnormal behavior we pump them full of chemicals to offset the "fast twitch" and emotionless world we've force fed them since birth and to make them easier for us and their teachers to deal with....

What could possibly go wrong?

My first kid is due in two weeks. We plan on raising him on nature.

But we don't want to be hippies?

You will see very quickly what I'm talking about. From about 2 on you enter into a constant battle trying to keep the rest of the world out...or at least control the flow.....and how those things that keep them occupied ie. Cartoons, games, etc which are great for YOU....may not be the best thing for their tiny little brains.

Also...people laugh about vaccinations....but when your sitting there and that doctor is jabbing them in the feet over and over with all of those needles....you'll wonder if this really is a good thing.... and want to punch them in the mouth.

You're an insightful guy...so im confident you'll see where I'm coming from.

And then, like smart people do, he will realize that a few pricks with a needle sure is better than polio and smallpox.

Kid will be 100% vaccinated.

It's the other weird shite that worries me. So convenient for me to say "Watch Nickelodeon and STFU for an hour" etc.

I'd rather just sit his crying babe arse out in the woods for 30 minutes with a 99.9% chance he'll be ok, then bring him back inside and hope he will come to understand and appreciate shelter.
