Thanks and we're blessed. I would check into LH-M. Might consider staying between Athens and ATL and commuting or maybe look at Peachtree City.
The frau is a Special Ed teacher with a School Admin Masters looking to break into the school principal track as well. We've found there is typically a need for Special Ed teachers everywhere we've been.

Avoid commuting to work through downtown Atlanta at all cost. It will ruin your day.

Just one more thing if you go to Charleston:

We have a huge Dawg fan base here. Home Team BBQ is owned by UGA grads and its a place where all the Dawgs go for game. They have 2 locations, one is on the beach, the other is west of the city but both are packed. The best games are when SC has a noon game and when our 3:30 game comes on the channels (all of them) get switched to UGA. Bonus... the shamecocks get pissed and we all get a laugh.

You can get a bumper sticker that says "Lowcountry Dawg" as well.

I love Athens though and would move back if the right job came along. Great schools and golf too.

Not entirely sure yet but at the moment there is a lot of music in the mix. I figure between the 13 colleges on the UGA campus it is covered. My oldest is a sophomore so we're getting close to following a track but the largest "thing" right now is vocals and performing arts for one and trumpet for the other. But they could do anything they want really.

As Hinesville said, Gulfstream is a solid employer in southeast Georgia. I have a number of friends in Bulloch and Effingham Counties who work there and they seem to do do real well. It's highly competitive to get on, but I'm not familiar to what extent they defer to veterans. I can find out though. One friend is in HR.

Delta Air Lines used to hire a lot of mechanics out of the Air Force. Good luck with the move!

You should consider Warner Robins or Savannah, imo. Large civilian service jobs opportunity and good places to raise a family. Both are surrounded by rural settings if you'd rather commute and live in country, gulfstream in Sav, Robins contractor jobs in WR.

More important than any of this is the kids having straight A's and high SAT scores.

Your criteria for a good city is the businesses based there? Three words: quality of life.

Atlanta wasn't designed for the amount of people jamming its streets and flooding the city with boutique coffee shops on one corner and crack dealers on the other. However, you could live in Athens and commute to Atlanta.

I hope this isn't going to start some backlash of Atlanta supporters arguing over the point. Let's leave it at I prefer smaller cities as opposed to metropolises. Atlanta doesn't suck, its a great city. Yeehaw. Go Atlanta.

Look into east cobb. Good schools and good demographics. Close to Lockheed if you land a job around there.

Savannah is an awesome and historical city.

Valdosta is a good place to live as well. These 3 areas should have plenty of opportunities for a man with your background.

Have experienced Valdosta. My first two were born there. I was stationed at Moody. Fun tour.

Thanks. I'm not a mechanic. You could refer to me as a "suit". I was responsible for the mechanics.
