One horrible act is not made right by another horrible act. In the interest of time and the fact that my eyes going crossed from reading the first 200 pages of this report, I'll just repost what I said in OT ...

quote:

The question that is never really addressed is why do "they" want to kill us. Do you think some goat herder in Far-the-frick-awayzistan gives two shits about us if our government isn't dropping bombs on them? We created this mess following WW II, drawing up political boundaries based on Western political paradigms and grouping people together who don't really care for each other. Then, for decades, we instal puppet governments that last as long as the puppets do what we want. When they don't, we meddle again and rinse, repeat. Would there be an ISIS if Hussein was still in power? Wait, how did Hussein get in power in the first place? Where did Bin Laden and those guys get all that American hardware? Rinse, repeat. We can go around the world swinging our Jeffersonian democracy stick all we want, they don't want it. We created this fricking mess, and president after president perpetrates the bullshite. We spend five times more on Team America military operations than any other nation spends on their own militaries.

It's. fricking. Dumb.

Now, we've come full circle and, turns out, not only are we gestopo-ing all over American privacy and freedom, we are using the same techniques we vilify "them" for using. Yay, us

Stop drinking the red and blue kool-aid. shite's poison

Watching those fricking scumbags celebrate the attacks as they burned our American flag
I'm not sure exactly who "them" is in this statement. Most of the people in the countries we invaded were actually very supporting of the US, until we royally fricked them over after "Mission Accomplished", then we started seeing the flag burning and hatred towards America in full force like we haven't seen in a long time.

Whether guilty or not, they deserved every minute of what they endured.
Holy fricking shite did you actually read what you just typed? Jesus dude get a grip, why would somebody be joyous at the torturing of innocent people who aren't guilty of anything?

Would have loved to send their remains via Fed Ex to their families to show our respect.

Was this actually torture, or are the Democrats only using this report (from the Democrats on the Stnate Intelligence Committee) as a parting shot at Republicans?

Read up on what the Japanese did to Amrican POWs during WW2, or what the Norh Viets did to American POWs during the Vietnam Conflict. I know 2 Americans that survived Viet POW camps, and I've known 3 Americans that were captured by the Japs in the Phillipines in WW2. I can assure you that what was done to them was many, many times worse than anything those muslim subhumans went through.

Couldn't have said it better, people don't want to admit it, but we bring most of the shite that gets flung at us on ourselves. It really is amazing that during the Reagan administration we funded Hussein with both money and hardware while he was killing hundreds of thousands of his own citizens and we just turned a blind eye to it because it was convenient and beneficial to us at the time. Fast forward to 20 or so years and we are invading his country and throwing him out of power under the veil of 9/11 which he had no links to and nothing to do with. Go America!

I'd wager that a respectable number of those interrogated were Tech grads.

Why don't you read the report. This, right here, is one of the fundamental problems with the American public. No one wants to do the work of educating themselves. All they do is go with the tribe. If their tribe says this or that, they just nod and go right along with their day.

Some of the worst stuff I've ever read honestly. What those people went through is unbelievable. I can't even begin to imagine...

Why would want us to sink ourselves to that level though? Shouldn't we set a better example than the rest of the world? Plus when word gets out that we are torturing or doing anything else that is frowned upon by most of the world it just becomes another recruiting tool for the enemy.

Single best recruiting tool for Al-Qaeda right here.

Define torture and list the "torture" we supposedly committed.
Then look up the torture the Japs and North Viets committed.

I agree we should be better than the scum like these muslim subhumans, but this report is more political than substantial.

Geneva Convention

The laws of the Geneva Convention do not apply to terrorist organizations because they don't represent another nation. If I lost a loved one on September 11, I wouldn't be terribly upset to hear about members of Al-Qaeda getting tortured, especially if I got one of those awful phone calls from someone on one of the planes that hit the World Trade Center saying they were about to die.

Americans have a gang mentality, either they think that Conservatives are fricking idiots or Democrats are fricking idiots. To me anybody who makes up their mind on an issue before they even read about it or do investigating on their own is an idiot. No decent person is just one thing, wait until you hear both sides of the issue before you make your opinion

i wonder how some of these "kill 'em all" types are going to feel about torturing terrorists when the gaze of our loving CIA falls on tea party members, or gun owners or any other number of folks that are deemed to be anti-government. Terrorism is a convnient term because it can mean a lot of things depending on who has the monopoly of force.

A real constitutional conservative or classical liberal (not the current progressive liberal) should be very concerned about an unchecked government running wild cross the globe capturing and torturing people. I Doubt this is what the founders envisioned....

It's right there in the report. Why don't you read it and "list the torture"?

I have read parts of the report. I also have read much of the raw data the report was drawn from. Have you? Have you read the reports of what the Japs and North Viets did to American POWs?
I also have seen video of these muslim subhumans beheading innocent civilians for recruiting purposes.
Watch again the events of September 11, 2001. I have no sympathy for these muslim subhumans.

I don't understand why you have to keep bringing their religion into it. We weren't attacked by muslims we were attacked by sociopaths and extremists that exist in every religion.

Exactly. Every party expands government power when they're in charge. Then they bitch when the next party does the same thing (but they secretly love knowing they'll get to use it when the pendulum swings back).
They already use the IRS to go after political opponents, going a step further wouldn't surprise me a ton in the future unfortunately.

So have I. So far, our decade's worth of interrogation and torture hasn't done a single thing to curtail their actions.

Save the pathos. The fact that you are using that tragedy to condone the same practices the West attacks these people for is a disgrace. Behaving like "muslim subhumans" doesn't make us better than them.

Again, why the frick are we over there in there in the first place? Those people don't give two shits about America if we're not over there meddling.
