The NCAA just hit Ole Miss with 29 infractions, Lack Of Institutional Control, and says Freee lost control of his program. Boosters gave a recruit $20K and he still went elsewhere.

We still get saddled with the loss, they just don't get the win.
Edit: this is nice little bit of vindication, though. Lools like OM will be looking at a pretty serious scholarship reduction, several year bowl ban, and I don't see how Freeze avoids the show cause penalty. A couple of good seasons that produced no hardware will send their program back to the cellar for decades to come.

Hugh Freeze would be a hell of an OC at UGA.

Well...everyone knew something was up the year they snagged Tunsil. I really do hate it for the fans because OM never was relevant so it's got to suck for them.....but aside from letting the recruits hunt on a boosters land - which seems chincy - this is some serious shite.
They may be forging into the "let's make an example of them" territory...which ain't good.

He's gonna have a show-cause as long as his front teeth by the time the NCAA gets done.

I don't know what that means, but can we fire Cheney and get Freeze in here? Or will this be something he can't run away from?

A show-cause would mean the latter. Wouldn't be able to hire him for at least a few years without convincing the NCAA, which wouldn't happen. Think Jim Tressel.

I don't know what that means,
If the NCAA puts a "Show Cause" order on a coach any school that hires him has to go to the NCAA and show what they are doing to prevent that coach from committing infractions. Then the NCAA looks at everything the school does, and every recruit, to make sure the program is clean. No school wants that.

Agreed. Show Cause makes that coach radioactive for years.

Not if this ends up where most folks think.

Beat Bama twice in a row and there's a price to be paid.

If the Cam scandal taught us anything it's that cheating is OK as long as there are no direct ties to the player. I guess OM missed the boat on that one.

Ole Miss should send their admins to Auburn for training in how to cheat successfully.

No wonder their D Line coach came here and took a pay cut.
This is the last portion of the Tunsil Tax.
frick you Ole Piss

That "lack of institutional control" thing is like a NCAA nepalm bomb for a program. If proven, Ole Miss might not be playing football for awhile. I don't think the NCAA has the guts though. Too much money and they have some corruption as well, IMHO.

there will never be another death penalty in CFB again.

Have you read some of the delusion on the OM board? Quite a few think the NCAA has no leg to stand on and they will accept the 1 year bowl ban with no further penalties.
