Some of us do. Jefferson, Christopher and some others have posted on NASCAR in past seasons and we usually have a Daytona 500 thread. Frankly I'm not into N'car as much nowadays since my man Mark Martin retired.

Yeah, NASCAR has done everything in their power to push me away but, I keep watching. The new points format for 2017 is completely ridiculous.

Yep ,been to ever track except Fontana ,Sonoma and Phoenix. Don't travel as much since Bill retired. Lots of good memories ,actually shot pool with Dale Sr. a couple of times. When the 3 car would test at Atlanta, Dale would stay with my friend. They were big hunting buddies.

I used to run a NASCAR pool with a bunch of buddies but, interest in NASCAR dropped by so many of them we stopped doing it.
For the 36 races of the season, you would pick one driver per race. You could only use each driver once for the entire season. So, you would have to figure which one of 36 drivers you thought would do best in a particular race. Picks for each race could be submitted weekly (prior to qualifying) or all at once, whatever you wanted to do. Then, whatever finishing position your driver was in for a particular race, those were the points you got for that race. Lowest point total for the season won the pot. We also had a small monetary award for the Horse's arse, the guy with the highest point total.
In the beginning, we split the season into 3 12-race segments and paid out to segment winners, overall winner and Horse's arse. The last season we did it, the pool was so small, we just did end of season payout.

A lot of women just don't get into NASCAR or motor sports in general, at least not after you marry them.

how opened minded of you...
I care about the clean air act a little too much to think watching race cars go around in circles is entertaining.
Also, how much fuel do they use every weekend? Imagine a life without NASCAR. Cheaper fuel, fewer busted ear drums, and cleaner air to breathe!

I sure am. Was a Rusty Wallace fan and then became a Jr fan after Sr died. I really respected how he handled everything after that.

Each race is now split into 3 segments with mandatory cautions after the first 2 segments. Points will be awarded from the first 2 segments, and the same points as last year awarded at the end of the race. No more bonus for leading or most laps led. Some of those points will be retained through the Chase, unlike last year.

Grew up on it during the golden era of the 80's and 90's.
Been to races at Atlanta and 'Dega.
Basically gave up on it somewhere around 2012 or so.
I'll watch a few races of the tracks I like and I keep up with the standings but it just isn't the same product it used to be and I have better things to do on a Sunday now. Never was a fan of the chase. Johnson gets on my nerves. Feels like they alienated the group of folks that made it what it was. In a sport founded on sponsorship it just got too corporate. A bunch of pretty boys that toed the corporate line. Gone are the outlaws....kind of parallels country music.

I always start looking forward to it this time of year, but it just can't hold my attention for the whole season any more for whatever reasons. I didn't even know who won the championship last year until I saw a headline about it on accident a few weeks ago.
There's still certain tracks I like and will probably always watch, and I'll always follow speed weeks and the 500 probably, but the sport as a whole has lost its magic.
