You mean like...Charlie Strong? The same was said about him and here he is at one of the premier schools in the country and about to get fired.

Really? I actually, at one time, thought Strong was a much better coach. Not so much, anymore. I guess my point is, that success at a lesser school does not necessarily translate to success at a larger school. Some people just can't handle the politics, stress, pressure, boosters, etc. that a larger school brings.

ETA

What program did Petrino take to the top 5?

ETA

Just looked it up...he took Arkansas to a top 5 finish, but i would hardly call Arkansas a crap program.

He finished with Louisville at #5 in the Coaches poll and #6 in the AP, but Louisville was in a crappy conference at the time. However, your point was that he got them to the top 5 and you were right.

Getting both Louisville and ark into the top 6 with powerful offenses is evidence of big time coaching ability. The last thing we need is auburn getting this guy 13 years later.

It might be an indication, but it is hardly evidence. Too many coaches have had success at lower tier schools for it to be considered evident, imo.

Out of curiosity, though...why do you think Richt would not have had success at Arkansas or Louisville?

You can shrug off doing it once, but petrino does this everywhere he coaches college kids. It's not a shock Louisville is back in the top 10. I haven't seen anything from richt that leads me to believe he could do that in a less advantageous situation.

Louisville doesn't advantages? Lots of cash, fan support, facilities and absolutely no
standards academically or otherwise.Hell.except for its recruiting base,it beats Miami
in every category I mentioned.

History means nothing, otherwise GT,Army,Princeton and Minnesota
would all have some type of edge.

FSU,Miami and UF had NO HISTORY before the 90's

Ancient history means nothing. Recruits like prestige. CUSA teams don't have that.

you just said "no history" as some type point to enhance your argument
in regards to the Louisville job the then you change the narrative to
"ancient history" UNfrickING BELIEVABLE

Typical, you cannot have any type of honest discussion in
regards to CFB

Part of Louisville's success is on defense.

With Richt's coordinators and Richt's recruits.

If you do the math, there is a 60 year difference between 1930 and 1990. Not dishonest at all. That's kind of a big deal.
