Not that it's really any better, but Nicholls only lost to South Alabama (beat MSU) by 1. So they appear to have improved from the past few years.

Well, him, South Beach, world-class arse, etc. Miami isn't a hard place to get people to want to go.

Maybe. I was shocked when I checked their records over the last 5+ seasons. They play nobody (Except when they play a team like UGA or Arkansas....who, by the way last beat something like 70-10 or something) and they still think they are having a good season when they win 5 games.

As a whole they are a last stop for a coach, I would think. Something along the lines of a West georgia, only worse.

You might be right, but I have heard they have poor facilities, empty stadiums......
Maybe a good place for someone that doesn't want to play in front of people or win a ton of games. I hope he does well. If I were him, I would take it easy and coast to retirement. He should have plenty of money. It depends on how driven he is for that championship. he might be more driven now to prove to himself he still has it. Who knows, really.

Wait...are you being sarcastic? I mean....South Alabama has lost 35 game sin the last 5 years.

ETA

Don't do this to me. I can't tell if you are joking or serious.

I wasn't being sarcastic at all really. South Alabama did beat Mississippi State this season.

Ok. I chalk that up to a georgia Southern/Nicholls type of game. A fluke. Or, maybe the Nicholls game was a GS/Nicholls game for them. Seriously. Nicholls is really, really, really bad.

I'm not arguing that. Georgia should have beat them by at least 50.

They're just probably not as bad as they have been the past few years.

Miami has played FA&MU, FAU and App. St. so far. Let's see where they are in a few weeks after playing GT,FSU,UNC,VT and ND...

Then we'll have a better handle of where they are...

I'm curious. is this among WR only or overall. because overall rankings can be skewed according to other positional strengths.

Overall, but your point about skewing can go both ways, and nationally accounts for the athlete position to be counted for Godwin.

I think I am misunderstanding what you are saying. It looks like you are saying Godwin was the 28th athlete in the nation? Or was he the 28th overall player in the nation....and you are right. It could be skewed both ways. I would be curious where these guys were ranked as WRs.

Oh! I got you. maybe. But South Alabama would not be a great yardstick to go by, I wouldn't think. They usually aren't very good either. Their success with Mississippi State, IMO, was more due to State being bad, but still taking South Alabama lightly.

If I am right, then South Carolina is really, really, really bad, too!

Overaall. He was slotted as an athlete, so unranked as a WR.

Will all the "we love Mark Richt" supporters still want him back when he gets stomped on the flats this Saturday?
Face it, the only thing that kept him in Athens as long as it did was he beat the Nerds on a more than regular basis. But then even that was not enough. I think it would be funny if the nerds beat him this Saturday.

Give him time, soon they won't enough have O or D linemen, 220 pound linebackers, 5'4" db's and a qb transfer from Sam Houston Community College.

Come on, be fair. He'll have a kickass QB. Probably a good LB or two and likely a solid D line. He will, however, have a roster of 43 skill guys and 9 O lineman. The transfer from Sam Houston St will be his starting left tackle.

That's right! I don't know what i was thinking about. So he might have been a pretty high WR had he been ranked as one. Either way, your rankings do indicate a talent disparity.

Seriously? So it had nothing to do with his averaging 9.7 wins a year? or beating Auburn and Tennessee on a regular basis? Or having the highest win percentage of any coach in UGA history?

Nothing to do with those things? Just that he beat Tech? Your reasoning and common sense has opened my eyes.

But....what if Kirby Smart gets beat by Tech this year? What does that say to us, since that seems to be your yardstick? Or would that be ironic, too, maybe?

How the heck did he ever mange to win at UGA. It's amazing. No DL. No OL. No LB. No DB. An no QB. He's a bad coach. How did he manage to win?

Do you have any idea how many DL, QB, DB or OL he put in the NFL? Not bad since he didn't have any worth a crap, huh?
