Step off the ledge man. They have played nobody. The best team they played is Appalachian State, and before you bring up our game with them, we played way down to our competition. We took them lightly, Miami did not. Appy Sate would have a similar score against VA Tech and Florida as they did against Miami.

Miami will get exposed very soon.

Dude....really? I mean we can't open a thread without everybody blaming our performance against Nicholls and ole Miss on Mark Richt.

Everybody needs to get over Mark Richt. If people would quit attacking him, I think people would stop defending him. I made a thread during the off season about this and got crucified. The anti-Richt crowd had to hammer him all day every day. I think a lot of this backlash is due to the hammering he has taken since last season.

There are a lot of people to blame for where the team is currently, Kirby Smart included. It's his job now, after all.

That said, Richt's construction of this Georgia team is certainly a relevant discussion on this board. His current Miami team is not.

I hope CMR perennially has Miami in the hunt for an ACC championship. Heck, if we're not in the equation, I''d love to see him win a NC at Miami. The fact of the matter is, he wasn't getting it done here, and his time was done - past done IMO. I truly, truly hope he has success and true happiness at Miiami. Mark Richt is a class act.

Houston ranked higher.....means they out recruited Richt then, right?

Personally, I would prefer they made his name like a cuss word on here and would not allow anybody to type it out again.

One of the problems is the anti-Richt crowd does not want Kirby Smart to take any of the blame and try to place all blame at Richts feet. I really believe a lot of this backlash is because of this.

It's Smart's first year and we are only into the fourth game. We may not be looking as good as some would like, but he is going to have growing pains. It's pointless to point fingers at Smart.

Likewise, it is pointless to point fingers at Richt. He is gone. Are we short at some positions? Sure. But we were short at some positions the entire time Richt was here and he managed to average 10 wins.
(FWIW, I still think we will finish with 10 after the bowl game)

People can't seem to realize or admit, that Richt was a very good coach, and still is. However, I agree that he could not get us over the hump. That is not a criticism....just an observation.

Instead of pointing fingers and trying to place blame, we should be discussing possible solutions and how the team might be shaping up for the coming years.

As long as Richt haters keep trying to blame him there will be someone on here trying to point out his strengths. Its just the way people are. And, as long as Pro-Richt people keeping blaming Smart for everything, there will be people trying to point out Richts deficiencies.

This board acts like a bunch of 4 year olds, sometimes.

I wish more people felt like this. A lot of the turmoil would go away, IMO.

You can't pin the performance on Richt, but you sure as shite can the cast of characters who failed to perform. There's a difference.

Yes, we are and it's perfectly fine to bring that up. It's childish to want everyone to ignore something so relevant. Talent matters and it can be quantified unlike "coaching".

Just in case you didn't know, richt went 8-4, 9-4, and 6-7 games with freshmen qbs and those teams didn't have as many holes as this one. That's an average of 5 losses.

Going to have to agree with this. And I was (and still am to a point) one of his biggest supporters when here. I hope he does well at Miami.

My High school team could have beaten Nicholls, and we are all in our mid to upper 50's.

Kirby deserves criticism just as much as Mark Richt.

I agree with this. I have no problem with this at all. However, what started the whole mess was when somebody on here began to try to pin everything on Richt.

And the position groups that everybody is railing about? (OL and WR) Deeprig did a comparison and we matched up very well against Ole Miss, LSU and Tennessee and Florida. The only team that blew us away was Alabama, and they blew everybody away, so lets not pretend Mark Richt left the cupboard empty. Short a bit? Yep. Empty? Hardly.

It's a complex set of problems that are facing the team. Pinning all of them on Richt is ridiculous, just like believing that Kirby's immune to scrutiny as well.
