My question was more along the lines of "what happened" seemingly so suddenly. Like I said, 10 was pretty good taking all things into account, 11 was alright, 12 was very good, and 13 stunk. I was really just wondering what happened recently. It also seemed like the fanbase did generally like the guy up until last year.

We didn't recruit or develop depth very well under Grantham on the defensive side of the ball with the exception of OLB. So when all those guys left for the NFL, the lack of experienced talent exposed problems that had existed but were masked by a generally superior talent level. Jarvis Jones, Alec Ogletree, and Shawn Williams couldn't save us anymore.

It had its moments, sure. Every defense does. But when the season was on the line in Atlanta, he fricked up. We let Bama control the clock in the second half and they wore us out. That's with 7 players who were drafted that year. You can't defend that.

So it was all Granthams fault... that's the loons view you're portraying?

Never mind we had a worthless S&C program and no dietary nutrition program (to speak off) in place before this season.

Alabama has whomped us with lesser talented players who were conditioned and trained far more rigorously than our slovenly supermen the last two times we have faced them.

Sparta burns Athens every time, our disney fans think its just bad luck and black magic<

Nah, not even close

NOPE

Even if rankings were off by a hair 1 > 9 at all points. At no point was UGA more talented than Bama. Did we have some damn fine players in 2012 sure but we weren't as talented as Bama and they proved it on the field. Teams that land the number 1 class every single year are more talented than us and they proved it by winning a championship that year. Stop talking out of your arse.

Once again Chowder Tard you cant pass off opinion as fact in an adult argument.

That shite just don't fly and it's the very reason you failed to quote the full sentence from my original chastising of your partner in the asylum.

You can't keep blaming Grantham/Martinez/Bobo/ug9 for all the past problems we have faced.

You're still the dumbest baboon on the site hands down.

dolt<

For me, the issue was the talent we had on the field vs. the results based on the supposed caliber of DC CTG was/is.

I didn't think CTG was a bad DC as much as he was being paid more money than I thought he deserved based on his results. We had a good defense in 2012, but it wasn't great. We had a very easy schedule which, I believe, inflated our success on defense. We had a lot of talent, yet when it mattered, we couldn't get the job done on defense. We keep going back to the "stop" of Bama to give us a shot at winning it, but that reminds me of the stops we had against LSU and USCe in 2013 to seal the deal for us. But prior to those stops, we were getting torched and had to rely on a potent offense for us to win it. I don't want a defense that is only good for one big stop a game.

I didn't see much improvement, if any, on defense this past season, and I believe that's based on the youth of the players mixed with the play calls and formations from CTG. I've heard about his complicated playbook from quotes from former players, current players (at UGA), and from his new players at Louisville, so obviously he is at fault in that regard by not making changes to accommodate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of his players. That's 100% on him.

Actually, just talking defensive performance overall, I believe 2011 was our best year under Grantham. In 2012, we weren't terrible, but we weren't as good as the previous year. Those two years together really got the hopes of the fan base up, if you ask me. The overall team performance made it easy to overlook the defensive shortcomings. This year, be it injuries or whatever, there wasn't much that could hide Grantham's atrocity on the field.
