stuff I've read from firneds on facebook, twitter, and a few other boards

1) Dawgs haven't improved one bit on last years passing attack and fact they cannot even name a starter yet is a real potential problem..defense gave up too many run yards last season and doesn't seem to have dealt with that for the upcoming season..

2) Richt's seat is hotter than reported due to the immense talent he is putting on the field..nothing short of an SEC East crown is good enough for the decision makers

3) run game and improved defense will keep us in all games, but if qB situiation doesn't pan out, opposing teams will load the line and make teh QB lose/win game..defense may get fatigued from staying on the field a majority of the game.

4) this team has a lot of talent and could actually get into the playoffs

I hope #4 is true, but I'm not placing a lot of faith in FG Jesus to do anything other than he has always done..and as in every season a measure of a successful season in my eyes is a win over florida..

weve put all our eggs in the Eason basket for the next few seasons. We have loads of talent this year, but we need to have some patience. This could be a really long year.

Finally some cold, hard facts on this board. I was so sick of reading hearsay.

indicative of what's being written on blogs, facebook group and friends' pages, etc...

I personally believe we'll be teased with greatness as we always are, only to lose to one or both SCU/UF, possibly UT/GT and end up in some shite bowl as we always do..

I think we will be pleasantly surprised by the pass game...

CMR is not on the hot seat...he leaves when he is ready.....it's always been that way

#3 is a half truth...we will be improved on defense...run game used appropriately will keep defense from getting fatigued though..qb situation will be fine...we are spoiled in that we have three on roster that could all start at other schools...

#4 is true

will we win them all?...not likely...but let's back up from the ledge at least until the bama game...

...oh and about that qb thing...bama...imho...has done plenty with qb's that are just serviceable...we have serviceable qb's for sure....play D...run the ball....it's the Saban way...and CJP is very familiar with that style...

That's what I've been telling myself. If we can get at least decent QB play. And by decent I mean 60% with 15-20 TD's and the ability to stretch the field with a deep one a few times a game, we'll be alright. That is contingent on the defense being better than last year, though.

So let me get this straight. We return the best rushing attack in the SEC...are going to be improved on defense with a much more skilled secondary and a 2nd year in Pruitts defense..not to mention arguably the best lbs in the sec...all while only losing a few..albeit great possession receivers and s QB we can all agree upon was mediocre at best...and we shouldn't be optimistic? Not to mention the overall attitude change around the program that Pruitt influenced.

I get richt shits the bed but come on...a lot to be excited about this year.

We just need a QB. I truly believe we have a guy on the roster who can manage this offense. The rushing attack is going to be the game plan for opposing defenses...so that should only help.

here's my thoughts.

Our run game will be on par with last years. WRs should be about the same..maybe a little better. OL should be similar. Defense should be a little bit better. QB likely won't be nearly as good. Take all that into account and add in the fact that we replace arkansas from the west with alabama.

We went 9-3 last year. So it stands to reason that we'll likely go somewhere in that range again this year. If we had a proven QB back, I'd be thinking SEC champs or bust. But we just don't know. If we win 10 regular season games I'll be thrilled, but I just don't see it as of now.

Pretty much how I see it. I change my mind slightly each day this time of year, but I'd place our likelihood of each record as follows:

40% 9-3
20% 10-2
20% 8-4
everything else combines to make up the other 20%

Our over/under for wins is 9 so Vegas largely agrees. They see a slightly higher likelihood of 10-2 than 8-4 since the "over" has a little bit higher vig on the sportsbooks I've seen.

As of now there would be no individual games where we'd be an underdog by more than 3 points. Obviously that can change for better or worse as the season progresses.

Anyone have thoughts on how our special teams play out this year?

return game should be incredible. I'm a bit worried by punting...barber is inconsistent and I think we're experiementing with the rugby style which I despise. I'll always be content with FG kicking under richt, outside of 1 season we've typically done pretty well there.
