It's been said by others but CMR could put together decent recruiting classes typically (according to recruiting ranking numbers anyway) but they were mostly skillz positions. He didn't manage the roster worth a frick though...even at QB which you'd think he knows something about. The trenches- he really screwed that up.
Yep, I was obviously joking but I pretty much agree with your perspective. I'm pretty sure a significant reason for Smart being hired was to improve our recruiting especially in the trenches. Our state has a wealth of talent and we need to do a better job of reeling in the top players in our state. Case in point, a recent All SEC Team revealed 7 players from the state of Georgia only one of which, Isaiah McKenzie, is on the UGA roster selected as an all purpose player at 5'8" 170lb.

I'm convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that when we do that with even an 85% success rate (i.e. keep talent in GA) we WILL win a NC.

McKenzie is from Florida

Ummmm.....no. There weren't. Well, not as bad as normal, but the grammar was about Monty-level, anyway.

This can't be. Our players are just as good as the Alabama players. The obvious reason for our underachievement is and has been insufficient position coaching. Clearly Kirby Smart should have taken this team to the playoffs this season.
Nobody said our players are as god as Alabama's. We DID, however say that they were as good as Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Nicholls State, Missouri and Georgia Tech. Or, at least better than we showed.
And no. You obviously were not kidding. You have been running around saying stuff like this for too long.
I take it you think they have more talent?

I must have misread the post on the Rant. I stand corrected. So none of the in-state players on the All SEC Team are on the UGA roster.

Ok.. to summarize:
Keep Chaney
Give Kirby time
Richt did not leave us with much talent
Change blocking schemes
Run jet sweeps or not?
Anyway, I would argue that we had some talented players this year. Our O line was not good and our WR were incosistent as was our QB. We have a new coach in his first head coaching gig. I expect to see improvment next year. I expect us to be in the discussion when it comes to winning the East.

Thd biggest area of disappointent with our talent is at OLB. We have talent at OLB. But we play undisciplined and get crushed in the red zone (too many running TDs on the edge).
Is sherrer over hyped? Is it scheme? Do we lack a thumper at safety to cover their mistakes at OLB?

Jenkins and Floyd are NFL starters. I don't think the current guys have that much talent.

I don't know but our redzone defense is among the very worst in the nation: LINK Only Texas St. was worse during the regular season. If I'm reading this correctly, opponents scored 94.6% of the time inside our redzone.

Carter has as much talent.
And production for Jenkins/Floyd had to be disappointing last year under a different scheme.
The constant is the position coach whose reputation kind of makes me scratch my head (why is he so valuable? We have underperformed based on the talent on the roster ).
He is among the most popular coaches on the team. But we haven't produced consistent run defense on the edge or consistent sack numbers. What are we doing with our talent?

They were better in the red zone but you're right about their production last year...Floyd had a grand total of 4 1/2 sacks last year and is playing lights out for the Bears this year.Coaching does make a difference.
