I can't disparage Smart for staying with Bama through their playoff game and possible NC game. I actually respect that.
However, when Pruitt was hired, Saban and Smart should have agreed it was time for Smart to leave.

We do that, and Smart is the head coach of South Carolina while he's coaching the Bama defense in the playoffs.

I'm starting to think some of the problems with UGA are its bitchy arse fanbase. I have always defended our program by blaming administration...players...coaches...etc.. but I'm starting to see a bit why other fan bases give us such shite. I honestly don't think some of you will ever be happy with anything UGA does. Either that, or you love being miserable.
Lets give the guy a fricking chance for Christ' sake. He literally has been on the job for a week....a fricking week.
After watching the shite shows on the field against Bama, UT, and UF this year, I will gladly let this run its course because folks, it certainly doesn't get any worse than those 3 games, I promise you that.
Take a break from the internet for a few weeks people...geeze

It took CMR 15 years to screw the FB program up. It's going to take Kirby more than a week to set it straight.

The same people who have been screaming fire Richt for the past 3 years are now talking about how our hires suck. I guess they expected us to go out and hire Belichick as our defensive coordinator and Chip Kelly as our offensive coordinator and anything less than that is just terrible.

Amen! Our fanbase is showing their asses and putting entirely too much stock into internet rumors. Anyone who expected KS to toss an entire staff together in 8 days is either on crack, knows nothing about football, or is part of the instant gratification or I will pitch a bitch generation.

not at all..was just exoecting a more "hit the ground running" result than we have gotten..we may have to write this recruiting period off partly due to CKS being torn between 2 masters..the fact that Saban expects Pruitt to show up now, but also demands that Smart stay has left me with less respect for Saban now..(I really like Saban as a HC normally)..
won't start the Fire Smart stuff in ernest until the 3rd season or so..if it's necessary imo

Personally, I like the fact that Smart is taking his time putting a staff together. He knows this is very important to his success and it seems to me like he's doing his homework instead of hiring the first name he sees on a message board.
No, I'm not a huge fan of the Chaney hire but I also don't know nearly as much about football as Kirby Smart does.

In reality, CMR was fired after the TN game. He knew it an basically quit. That's why Pruitt showed up at his house. McGarity waited as long as he could, but I wish he and Pruitt could have patched things up. This ain't all as easy and clear cut as it seems.

This would not surprise me. McGarity probably had some pretty specific criteria for success and when we blew the lead vs Tennessee, I can easily see that was the final blow. But if that was the case, and they didn't tell Richt then, I see no reason why McGarity could not have waited until after the bowl games to tell Richt. As the article aptly points our, our coaching staff and team are likely in complete disarray. Was that the plan? Surely it could have been managed better.

Keep a bunch and swap some of the lower hanging fruit CMR was okay with for bigger fish.
