Simmer down. He'll be better than Richt. It starts at the top. The team will take on the mentality of Smart, not the offensive coordinator or line coach. Kirby isn't going to put up with a bunch of coddled, soft-as-cotton, mentally weak football players. He's going to whip your roster into shape through discipline and attrition. Y'all are going to find out soon enough who's willing to work and who's stuck in the Richt era mentality. Those kids will end up at Auburn and Tennessee. Don't care how talented any of them are, if they leave then you're better off without them.

As far as Kirby staying on at Bama, that would piss me off too in your shoes. Is what it is, that's what he decided to do. It's not going to change the outcome of a single game next year though if we're being honest

Welcome to our board. I know you've been here for a bit....but most on here are not used to reading common sense. Keep posting. They will begin to see and recognize common sense eventually.

we may have to write this recruiting period off partly due to CKS being torn between 2 masters..

Not really. We are in a dead period, anyway.

the fact that Saban expects Pruitt to show up now, but also demands that Smart stay has left me with less respect for Saban now.

Are you sure Saban demanded Pruitt come immediately? Or could it have been that Pruit felt disrespected and wanted to leave? IF stories are to be believed, he told Smart he wanted to stay, and Smart said "No." If it had been me, I would have been embarrassed and in a hurry to get out of town. What good would it have done for him to stay?

No, I'm not a huge fan of the Chaney hire but I also don't know nearly as much about football as Kirby Smart does.

And yet you criticized every move Richt made. Go figure.

In reality, CMR was fired after the TN game. He knew it an basically quit.

No. You don't know what you are talking about if you think Richt quit on us and/or the team.

I imagine that Kirby will break them down and rebuild them in a manner suitable to him.

It's funny to watch. They want Richt fired and don't care if we risk "an 18 year old kid" in the process.

Then they don't like the HC hire because he has no HC experience. They don't like the OC, mostly because he is fat it appears.

They freak out when that 18 year old kid they didn't think we should value over a HC position visits our arch rival. Now they are doing backflips that he stays.

They all want Pruitt to stay, until he leaves, then its a good thing because he's a dick.

And most recently.... wait, let me see which way the wind is blowing so we can whine about it.

I love these guys... But it can be funny. And I have my part in it too. The emotions can run high. But overall I can't wait until next year to see the NEW uga team.

I trust that Smart has more knowledge than all of us and has a lot of pressure to succeed. I am going to go Disney with him and see what we get.

We should have not fired Richt until after the playoffs were over and our recruiting class was secured.

We do that, and Smart is the head coach of South Carolina while he's coaching the Bama defense in the playoffs.

I seriously doubt that. There is such a thing as private negotiations. Our admins should have anticipated that Smart would be needed to continue as DC at Bama through the playoffs; hell Bama has been an odds on favorite to win the SECC for many weeks after Ole Miss lost to Arkansas with 3 weeks remaining in the regular season. McGarity could have said: look Kirby, we want you but the transition will be awkward if you need to stay with Bama through the playoffs. At which point they could have come to an agreement in principle to be completed after the playoffs, Richt is told nothing other than the playoff game would be another data point in his evaluation, our recruiting class remains in tact and we have a smoother transition.

Coaching change decisions are all over the map from Spurrier leaving early into the season to coaches fired after an embarrassing showing in the bowl games. I hope it all works out in a positive way for us but it damn sure worked out well for Coach Richt under the circumstances. My guess is Richt had been talking with someone at Miami early on for them to take their time and then snap up Richt almost immediately after he was fired. Richt having not signed his latest contract with UGA seems to fortify that perspective. It would not have hurt Miami or Richt significantly for him to stay at Georgia through the playoffs IMO. After all, Richt's contract had not expired from a UGA perspective; he was being paid well to coach our team through the bowl games.

I waited until his coordinator hires sucked to criticize them. I criticized Richt about some things, but prematurely saying his assistant hires were underwhelming was not one of them.
