I agree that the rule is stupid, but breaking (repeatedly) after knowing it was wrong it still shows poor character.

If it was any other rule, I could follow you and agree with you. But if you're Gurley, and someone offers you $x to just simply write your name, and you're not breaking any laws, and you know hundreds of other guys have easily gotten away with doing the same thing in the past, why should he or how was he supposed to say no?

But rules are rules. If you don't agree with them, try to get them changed. But as long as they exist, you have to abide by them or risk the penalties that may come from getting caught.
As far as character is concerned, he should have done the right thing regardless of the temptation, even if the rule was "stupid". He may have done what just about any other kid his age would do, but it wasn't the right thing. I am personally disappointed in him, since I perceived him to be better than that. I was wrong.

I wonder if we could put pressure on Allen and the other people who apparently paid Gurley (there seem to be more) under threat of lawsuit, to roll on Winston and other players at other schools. Vindictive I know, but it just sucks that they get away with it.

Claiming to magically know Gurley's motives for this. Claiming it's all for his family etc. Painting him as a "victim".
Gurley is a guaranteed millionaire. Whether he gets to the nfl or whether he gets injured and cashes in on the insurance policy UGA bought for him.
Yet he couldn't wait a few months for that? He had to frick his team over for some pocket change?

A lot of people do it ... only difference is, Gurley probably didn't do it the "right" way, and he got busted for it. Or, he did it on the wrong team. One that doesn't like to sweep it under the rug.

We have been lucky that Chubb hasn't gotten more banged up than his thumb. If he goes down, we have no serious running game. Gurley is a beast and a game-changer. His actions may potentially hurt this team, so his "mistake" shouldn't be taken lightly, especially since he's apparently been doing it for a long time now.

Agreed. He deserved the punishment he got. I'm fully on board there.
