I don’t think cell phones or message boards or Ipads or any of it have anything to do with human (d)evolution.
When I see some dipsshit driving 10mph below the speed limit in the left lane on the interstate, I don’t blame the automobile. When some jack arse at the gas station talks at 200 decibals on his cell phone while the cashier is trying to figure out how many scratch-off lottery tickets he wants to buy, I don’t blame the cell phone or the lottery.
Goons have existed since the beginning of time. Automobiles, cell phones, lottery tickets message-boards etc do not produce more goons. They simply provide new opportunities for humans to display their goon-level to the rest of the world.
For instance, when technologies are used in a certain manner, it’s like people are holding up a sign with an arrow pointing down at themselves that says, “Look at me! I’m most likely a goon/moron!”
And as new technologies develop….. These signs get bigger and bigger….making goon-identification easier….. and easier.
Which brings us to emoticons/gif regurgitation.
Show me a Kentucky-I-Agree-With-This TL;DR whyumad? cat gif………. And I’ll show you a full-fledged prototypical mega-Goon.

I agree for the most part. Sometimes though a well placed gif that really fits in with the conversation can be very funny, especially one that hasn't been recycled a thousand times.

And therein lies the problem. At least back in the day people pretty much kept to themselves. Now there just seems to be too much, umm, mingling, I guess you'd say. And waaay too many assholes who think the world revolves around them.
Have you noticed that the more technology evolves the more all the goons (to use your word) feel like they need to use said technology to keep everyone else informed on their day to day personal events and happenings? What the frick is that?
I know no one outside of maybe my very close family really gives a frick what I'm doing all the time. Thats why I stay the frick off Twitter and don't update my seldom used Facebook status but about once every few months.
