The point was that the running game didn't really generate dick in the way of points all year, and it even managed to do worse at the end.

No one said he was perfect and never had an inaccurate throw.

It's a shame our defense was so awful in the red zone last year.

No it didn't.We absolutely looked better running the ball in November and into the bowl game. Our rushing stats back up my point. Our red zone offense is somewhat of a different argument

1) it was a bad season for the running game. We ranked 12th on the season for rushing TDs in conference. 11th in conference for 3rd down converting first downs on the ground. 6th in conference in 1st downs on the ground. Smiling about improvement over our dreadful October is comical.

2) we did finish with 3 good games on the ground (after the Auburn game of course because they have a good run defense). However, neither of those three games were better than the 2 games against UNC or against USCe.

11 of our 18 rushing TDs were in the first 6 games.
1,294 of our 2,486 rushing yards were in our first 6 games.

You can say that we finished on a high note after Auburn's defense stifled us.
You can say that we improved over a dreadful month from mid October to mid November.
But you still can't say that we improved. Because we didn't (on a 13 game schedule... we were better in the first 6 games).

And even if those 3 glorious games against Louisiana Lafayette, GT, and TCU (none of which are SEC competition, so their national rankings are comparatively meaningless) showed improvement... it was a god awful season running the football. There is absolutely nothing to smile about when reviewing our ground game last season.

That was the 3rd fewest rushing TDs that we scored in the past decade. Those other 2 were teams with 5 losses or lost to every ranked team that they faced.

The offense scored 6 points against Auburn. That is not a good day.

Some on this board thinks that game showed improvement.

Oklahoma showed us what a real offense could do to Auburn. They went up and down the field easily all night. Auburn had a pretty good defensive line but their defense as a whole was just okay. And we scored 6 points on offense.

Pitt beat Clemson and UNC beat Pitt and we beat UNC, so we practically won it all last year.

We outgained them by almost 200 yards and had a long pass to Godwin called back and an obvious PI on another long pass that wasnt called. We also had a stupid turnover in their redzone
on a tailback pass.

Adams and Lawson were both all SEC and it was the best D line and rushing defense we played all year. Obviously not as good as Florida as a unit.

Once again,my point was our improvement not that we somehow
turned into an offensive powerhouse.

Ok,now your moving the yardstick to the 1st 6 games vs the last 6?WTF? My argument has always been the last 3rd including the bowl game.We We were horrible vs UF and we made a discernible change in our run blocking scheme and was reflected in our rushing results the next 5 games.Don't GAS if you don't think there was improvement or not but it was obvious

October??? We were HORRIBLE in 3 outta our 4 games in September or are you still counting Ole Miss as some type outstanding performance? We rushed for 67 yards in the 1st half and 160 after were down 31-0 and scored 2 rushing touchdowns after we were down 45-0 and Ole Miss finished 117 in rushing defense.Nichols St was at best a mediocre non P5 team and we struggled to get a 100 rushing yards vs Missouri who finished 118 in rushing defense.

You are cherry picking your definition of improvement.

I'm on record saying that we were dreadful the entire season. We were not better the last 3 games of the season than we were for the entire season. 2016 was what it was. If you want to call it going out on a high note... fine. Our 2 best games were not in the final 3. In my opinion, it was SSDD.

We were FAR more consistent and better the last month and in thebowl game .Cannot help you if can't see the obvious facts. We were completely horrible in 6 outta of our 1st 8 games and you wanna completely deny the fact that there was substantial improvement.Sorry
If it doesn't fit your built in narrative of how bad we were throught the course of the season.
