The only thing missing from this thread is Chicken checking in to ask how we are doing.

What a waste. I have nothing against bald eagles. Although, come to think of it, they should be replaced as our national animal symbol/mascot..........with something more appropriate. Like a leech or a vampire-bat or some kind of parasite.

Somebody photoshop a picture of a leech in front of an american flag onto a quarter, and let's see how it looks.

So...honest question.

It's well know that we had a drone bomb a wedding party...killing civilians and others...to get a bad guy.

This week we learned our troops are being told to allow Afghan Trained forces molest young boys....within our camps....because it's "their" culture.

At what point is a soldier obligated to refuse orders just because they may be total bullshite?

So you don't draw a distinction between between bombing cities to wage a world war in the 40's that was approved by congress and drone attacks against individuals in sovereign countries that inflict mass casualties?

Before you answer, take off your "frick yeah!" hat and try to think about the Constitution and the principles this country was founded on. TIA.

Ok, let's take the Constitution. Guess what - it doesn't apply to foreign people in foreign lands.

Sovereign countries? Hate to break it to you, but Germany and Japan were sovereign, too.

And as far as distinctions go, yes, I do. Carpet bombing cities is far, far worse. Civilian casualties in the cities I listed exceeded total American casualties in WW2.

For both drone strikes and carpet bombing, here is a case to be made for "Hey, it's war, shite happens," but the difference to dead on the ground is academic, at best.

There is Freedom and then there is treason. There is a line there. If they want to protest fine but what those two did, crossed that line.

I disagree with Kerry on most political issues but how can his actions be characterized at true treason?

Obviously the swiftboat veterans said he was unfit for command but if there was a valid argument that he was treasonous wouldn't the GOP have attempted to use that against him in 04?

Because he and Jane went to N. Vietnam met with the prisoners and leaders. Several prisoners tried to pass them letters to take back to their families. Those two turned them over to the N. Vietnamese and those prisoners were beaten and tortured. They did try to use those things against Kerry. How he is holding political office in this country is beyond me.

So, you believe that the intentional mass-murder of hundreds of thousands of civilians by the U.S. like at Hiroshima and Nagasaki (aka WAR CRIMES/CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY) are in line with the U.S. Constitution and the principles this country was founded on?

Sorry, but that's pretty warped.

A war crime is a war crime. It's just that americans believe they are "exceptional", so they hang the leaders of their enemies til dead for war crimes....... while ignoring and rationalizing and lying about their own.

We were attacked and the Congress declared war...as it should be.

And as far as I know when those bombs were dropped the Japanese hadn't surrendered yet. But they did right after.
