Our defense let us down in that game, but CMR called a good one.

Foo, I don't want to get into banter with one of my favorite DGD's on this board but since you brought it up, yea, an ultra talented defense let us down big time in that game. And no, that's not directly on Coach Richt but he did hire Grantham and Grantham sorely underachieved considering all the talent we had on that 2012 defense including as you say we got owned by Bama's running game. What kills me is it might be another 10 years before the opportunity arises again.

Even though I don't know how much say the head coach has in hiring the coordinators, I wouldn't mind putting CTG's hire on CMR. I'll just say that I thought CTG was an impressive get at the time he joined Dawg Nation, and many others did, too. I don't blame CMR for hiring CTG (if he was responsible for it), but I would blame him if he didn't get rid of him soon (if he has the authority). CTG has been a major disappointment so far and I would need to see some miraculous change in our defense in order to change my opinion of him.

My deal ain't even about the BCSNC...

The SECC is the only thing "YOU" can control. No polls, no frickin' computers & no depending on Oregon, OSU, KSU & all this other horseshite to lose. Nothing but you as a coach getting your team to just win baby.

We've not won a SECC since '05... Richt won 2 in his 1st 5 years when the SEC was in flux and an average conference. '02- '05, Zook at UF, Bama was on probation, Fulmer was on the way down etc...

The SEC had 1 split BCSC with USC from '99 to '05, the SEC was so lightly regarded that an undefeated Auburn team didn't even get to play in the BCSCG in '04...

Since the emergence of the SEC as "THE" NCAA power in 2006 with UF's huge win over OSU, UGA has 2 trips to the SECCG, & lost both...8 years with 2 SECCG appearances, 1 blow-out which we led at halftime & 1 close loss where we led with 5 min left in the 3rd qtr....

Since the re-emergence of the SEC in '06 WE ALWAYS LOSE the BIG games, AND we also manage to lose a "SMALL" game somewhere along the line every year that leaves us depending on another team to lose. Take your pick, imma not listing them all. EXCUSES abound for every loss but the fact is WE LOSE them ALL...

The mere fact that Richt didn't come up with a winning play in that situation speaks volumes to the difference between a good coach who puts up a good fight against a defending champion and a great coach who puts together the winning formula to beat the defending champion.

Hurry up offense, time running out, no time outs....do you REALLY believe that Richt called that play? The coaching staff had seconds to assess the situation, see what personnel Alabama had on the field, call a play. You've had 9 months. Bobo made the call, not Richt. Murray should have spiked the ball and not looked to the sideline. 'm not getting on Murray, necessarily. Unless you've been in a similar situation, you cannot imagine the chaos and confusion going on on the field. Do you know how many other SEC teams wish they had been in our situation? People talk about how Miles is better than Richt? miles didn't come as close to winning a NC as Richt.

This year alone we have won 2 against top 10 opponents, so we don't ALWAYS lose the big games. In Richts 13 years at Georgia we have finished in the Top 10 in the Coaches Poll 6 times. While it is true we have not won a SEC title since 2005, the SEC has won the National title every year since, and probably will again this year.....sooooo.....do you think the competition has been pretty tough? True, we want to win one, too, but come on.

You are right. It might be. but if you check Richt's record, it probably won't be. he consistently puts us into position to win. He did last year. Injuries hurt us this year, or we would be right there, and I am willing to bet we will be next year.
