I don't see how Richt didn't recruit better @ qb for the absence of A Murray. B Ramsey was a project to begin with, so nothing was guaranteed with him and Faton was what, a 3 star, so I'm sure we could of gotten a better qb.

LeMay busting was a bad development.

At the time, lining up 4* Murray, 3* Mason, 4* LeMay, 3* Bauta, 4* Ramsey, 4* Park seemed pretty good. It was pretty good. People are too quick to give up on these guys.

Exactly! Murray couldn't get it done. And neither could Mason. So, how is Faton Bauta, the third stringer to both of these cats going to get it done?

Seriously, Porter. Log off and go bulk up your firewood supply.

Winter is Coming..

Oh. You were serious with that.

That's a good point.... but the good thing right now is.... Whoever is chosen at QB will have a lot more overall talent around him.... especially the O line....

And with a better defense a ok QB can lead a team to a lot of victories...

As a starter, Mason lost four games overall but none of those losses was primarily due to bad QB play. Mason could've gotten it done but it just didn't happen.

I like Bauta to start because I don't think he will lose us games. Ramsey is much more likely to experience three interception games like Murray had. Murray could overcome some of those spotty performances but I don't know if Ramsey could do the same.

I can't group Mason in with the others, dude had heart & did the best he could do with what skills he had to work with... 21 TD's & only 4 int.'s were fonkin' outstanding, kid just did what they asked of him, played within himself & might be the most cerebral QB we've had since David Greene... Hutson really had an outstanding year & didn't really lose a game for us all year. Hard to blame SCe, UF or even GT on him... JMO but Mason was outstanding with everything factored in...

This^

I hate all the nagative comments posted in the last year saying stupid shite like "Mason can't pass the ball 20 yards". With Mason as a starter we never lost a game primarily as a result of bad QB play.

Mason did play awful against Tennessee but The Great Gurley bailed us out.

The point of all this is that we don't need stellar QB play to have a solid season. I don't think Ramsey can lead us to the SEC title, but he also doesn't have to be 2012 Aaron Murray for us to go around 10-2.

10-2 will put us in the SECCG. We will then face either Bammer or the Barn. We will have experience against both. I prefer Bammer.

I completely forgot about LeMay. ALso J Park doesn't count in the discussion, since Richt would never want to depend on a freshman to come in and start for us. So when Murray left, Richt shouldn't of wanted to rely on Park to step in day 1. So thats why I left him off.

But yeah LeMay (project player, didn't play SR of high school, then got kicked off team), Ramsey (project), and Mason shouldn't of even been here is rSR honestly. So bascially you have Ramsey, and Bauta to take over for Murray. I still think he coulda done a better job. Maybe instead of taking 1 qb a class, he could of doubled up one year, like when we had Murray and Mettenburger. I really hate breaking in a new qb for the 2nd straight year. Then next year w/ Eason, it may be 3 new qbs in 3 yrs. That is never good, NEVER!!

One thing's for sure, you can never have enough QB depth...

After the '98 season when Quincey got the nod as a true FR., Nate Hybl(to OU), Daniel Cobb(to JUCO then Aub.) & Mike Usry(to S.Fla.) all transferred out leaving us with Jon England & Regan Torbert as the backups for the '99 season...

Eason will be a EE & go thru Spring practice next spring, no telling who transfers out next May after watching Jacob lead the Black to a 42-14 win over the Red in the G-Day game...

I'd take him as depth. We're potentially critically low in QB numbers depending on transfers

He was a 4 star out of college but UVA probably lacks the talent on the outsides to really make him shine. He would probably be an upgrade over our current starters but that isn't saying much. If we are still exploring transfers means we don't feel real good about our situation or we are preparing for transfers of our own.

Yea, I can't help but wonder. Hopefully it's just a case of exploring all options but our current QB's can't be feeling good about the exploration.

He also had Mason to take over for Murray. All QBs are projects to an extent. Ramsey and LeMay (and Park) were top 100 recruits. It's really hard to sign two quality QBs in a class. The Mettenberger thing fell into Richt's lap with his mom working in the football office.

What we're dealing with at QB this year is what most schools deal with often. UGA fans have been spoiled that it's worked out so well in the past.

Honestly I think I'd be ok with that. At least he has exoerience and I remember him being a big deal when being recruited. I also will admit that I rather anyone but a QB on our current roster to start

if our QB play is this questionable, maybe Chubb will run for 2k yards afterall. He is going to be run into the ground. I hope he isn't the peach that Gurley is.

Either our offense is good and our D sucks or vice versa. Get your shite together, richt.

So you are saying that all three of our QBs are worse than every other QB everywhere. That's harsh.
