They aren't worth anything anyway....the card manufacturers increased production in the 80's and 90's and totally saturated the market.

My first job was working in a baseball card shop in the back of one of those nicnac shops in Helen. They pretty much paid me in cards. I was/am a huge Cubs fan (thanks to WGN) and picked up quite a few older cards of guys like Banks and Santo. Mark Grace was my favorite player as a kid and I had everything of his going back to his minor league days. Highlights of that era in cards included the introduction of Upper Deck (and that Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card) and the infamous Billy Ripken "frick face" card. Also loved the Donruss 40/40 club Canseco.

Man......I need to look for my stuff. I didn't have many, but had a Dave Justice rookie card, Frank Thomas special card, a Barry Bonds special from when he was with the Pirates (and skinny), and the Bo Jackson card with him holding the bat over the football shoulder pads.

Damn........I miss being a kid.

Anything prior to 1960 might be worth a little.....

The rest combined will get you $3.80 and a happy meal at McDonalds.

They are making a comeback. There was a thread on it on the MSB. Apparently ppl are into watching other people open packs and then they sign up to get all the cards that are from a specific team. shite is evolving yo

I'd put it at around 1970 or below....but your assessment is pretty much spot on.

Back when I was still actively collecting I was picking up Mantle cards for peanuts on eBay compared to where they were circa 1988. Now the early 50's stuff of his still commands big money, especially the 1952 Topps Rookie. LINK But I picked up a nice 1960 Mickey Mantle for less than $200. Walk into the card shop in 1988 and that card is going for $700. Now you can send cards away to be graded and scored and that seems to adds a little premium to their value.

But I am sitting on thousands of cards mainly from the 80's and 90's and they ain't worth much other than some of the key cards which to me the card of the 80's is the Upper Deck Griffey Jr rookie. Like I said in an earlier post the card companies got swept up in the baseball card fever and printed way to many cards which saturated the market. They were only keeping up with consumer demand so you can't blame them but instead of maybe one or two companies putting out a set for years you then had multiple companies putting out multiple sets.

I know I have a mookie blaylock card somewhere. I'll throw it in the next hunger games prize winnings. Probably worth millions since only 9 NBA cards were ever produced.

I collected cards for awhile (coins too) but the ones I have that are worth anything are rookie football cards. The baseball cards I have are basically the dime a dozen variety.

Do you have any of the Pittsburg (back then without the "H") Pirates Honus Wagner cards? That's the one I'd like to stumble across hidden somewhere though I'm not likely to find one. The most valuable one sold for $3.12Mil not too long ago. LINK

LOL, I wish!

I want a '52 Mantle Topps Rookie but that will never happen. Unless I become extravagantly rich. Or find that Wagner card which I'll sell for $3M and buy a nice Mantle at $100K and have $2.9M left.

Mantle finally went for over $1M.
