Eason has a million dollar arm and a 10 cent head.

Fromm starts from here on out, barring injury. IMO.

So why did Eason utterly dominate the "QB Competition" from Spring till 1st game?

Unless Fromm is the ultimate gamer and Eason can be written off as a practice warrior (which we can't do until we see a legitimate game from him this year) the job is Eason's.

9 times out of 10 I'll take what the coaches see in practice as being the truth rather than a bunch of people whose favorite player is, year in and year out, the 2nd string QB. I bet you loved when Richt started Bauta against UF.

I, for one, was happy when Bauta got the start. I was very unhappy when I saw that we were using Bauta as a pocket passer, though. We completely wasted that opportunity.

I still question the decision overall, but not using his legs to our advantage had to have been shitty Schottenheimer's dumbass call. Bauta's entire saving grace was his legs could alleviate the issues he had with tossing the ball.

True. because I would rather have a very talented WR that is average in height, than a very tall receiver that is average in talent. Just my opinion, but talent will win over size more often than not.

Wims is a very talented 6'4 wr, the exact kind of wr you make that pass to.

Maybe. but Rich seemed to have an aversion to running QB's. He told Murray to cool it on running unless it was necessary, so I would suspect it was Richt's call. But that is just a guess.

No argument there. And it is the type of play we need to make more often. I'm not convinced that is what Fromm had in mind when he threw the ball up there, but it could have been. And, we know Wims is more talented than the DB's for Appalachian State. I guess my concern is that Fromm might think it is going to be that easy against better competition.

That's a valid concern. I wonder if he would have thrown that to anyone, or if he knew exactly who was out there. Only he knows and we can't interview him.

Absolutely. I am good with assuming he knew what he was doing and it worked out exactly the way he planned.

He threw one other pass in the game where I thought he threw it up for grabs, but I don't remember who he threw it to. That might could give us some insight on his thought process. If I get a few minutes today, I'll see if I can find it.

Maybe he didn't want Murray taking a bunch of unnecessary hits. It is the one position where you can least afford an injury

I'm sure that is exactly the reason. That wasn't a criticism of Richt....just an observation. I was one of Richt's biggest supporters on here, but it was obvious he didn't want our QB's running. That is why I said it was probably his decision, and not the OC's.

I'm sure it was. Richt's offense was pretty much designed around a pure pocket prototypical QB. I wish that he would have embraced the changing times like other teams had and opened things up more at QB.

If only he could coach a successful quarterback like Charlie Ward or DJ Shockley.

I'm not a huge fan of running Qb's, either. I like the old fashioned smash mouth football where you line up against you opponent and impose your will on them. Alabama style. (Or it used to be) But then, I am an old guy, too. When I was younger I got all excited about throwing the ball around a lot. I don't know if it is old age, or what, but I have come to love the running game more. For me it is more interesting.

It also scares me that we could bring in a Fields and let him start running....we become a contender and then he gets hurt, and we have nobody else on the roster that can run that kind of offense.

Put simply, it's awesome to beat the hell out of someone physically until they quit. See 2014 Auburn game

You had to remind me of that stupid crap. I thought I drank the memory away that night.
