2 Point Conversion Attempt

I don't know if it has been discussed... but does anyone know the reasoning behind it? Was Kirby upset at all the cheap shots MIZZOU was putting on our players? Trying to cover the spread ? Anyone have a thought about it?

I would say it was for practice but it looked pretty half-assed to me

If he wanted to cover the spread or send a message, we could have probably scored again at the end of the game. He was just trying to put it more out of reach against a team who had torched our defense several times.

He was going off of a chart that shows the other team's scoring attempts needed.

Kirby's answer was that it is a numbers game and they use a "chart" and score combinations to determine whether to go for 2.
So my interpretation is, we were up by 25, if we get 2 we go up 27, 3 TDs with 2 pts. and a FG would only tie the game. If we go for one the same combination of scores beats us. Getting one point doesn't really do anything for us in that situation.

Yep, if we are serious about succeeding on a 2 point conversion in a big game, a smarter play and a lot more practice is in order.

Sometimes you want to show something you won't use if it really counts.

I believed it was a situational thing as coaches are looking for opportunities for practice in game situations. I've seen high school teams way ahead in a game start working on a 2 minute offense before. To the average fan that is a headscratching move.
However the chart says:

Yep. When coaches look at film, they pay special attention to things like goal-line and 2-pt plays.
Kirby might've figured it was a good opportunity to throw out a "junk" play that they can use as misdirection for when they REALLY need a 2-pt conversion.

That's a very good argument as well.
It is something else a DC has to take time to analyze and work on. It's like when teams line up in the Swinging Gate/Polecat formations for PAT's. It's something that is going to force the team to have to spend time on it preparing for it that week in practice. It's a PITA.

They had another one earlier that was missed.

I like the fact CKS uses games that are out of reach as scrimmage/practice time. That is how you get depth and clear up an errors that may come.
