I hate yells. One of my best friends was a yell leader, and I still hate them. I think it really hurts the atmosphere. Chops up the crowd intensity. I much prefer the natural beast that is the LSU crowd.

Although a long time fan of A&M I have never visited the campus.
I really want to this year when the new Vet School building opens (I've had small pets all my life and all the vets were Aggies).

The crowd atmosphere deteriorating has to do with 2 things, neither of which are the yell leaders:
1. BAD defenses.
2. The 12th Man TV taking away from the crowd

i never and i mean NEVER followed or cared about recruiting AT ALL until I started posting here in 2012. You could have asked me what NSD meant and I wouldn't have had a clue

If anything that makes you more of an Aggie in my opinion.
The most red arse Ags I know for the life of them CANNOT see the big picture/Game of Thrones stuff in college football. They were the ones who didn't want to go to the SEC because it would end the Texas game. They didn't understand why I melted about Malik, or why OU or Texas to the SEC basically blows our dick off ("It would be a good game."). They go into each season with the naivety of a child.
When you get down to it being an elite program isn't in our DNA. We are too nice of people, that are too focused on ourselves. Bama fans pop out the womb caring about recruiting, and they win national titles for this reason.
The fact that the yells actually don't help that much (as pointed out in the thread) is a PERFECT example. Its why ten years ago my "strategy" for Texas A&M was basically "give up on football and become a basketball school." The SEC move gave me hope that we had a chance to one day be more, but it will take a down SEC and a lottery ticket of a coach to get there if we ever do. It won't be because of us (or our traditions) or what we built.
Lol, you were probably happier not following recruiting I bet. Ignorance is bliss. I am sorry we did that to you Sarge.

Never been to on campus muster, but never missed a silver Taps in the 3 years I lived on or very near to campus so I don't feel as bad

I've only been to yell practice once, first yell '99, and never went again because I think it's the biggest waist of time.
