How old is that tradition? I don't have any memory of it.

As far as I can tell, ring dunk replaced the Grode Flicks.

I only went to the Chicken to find out what else was going on during the weekend.

I've never played 42. Only regular black people dominoes.

-I think the chicken is vastly overrated, sure I had good times playing 42 there but if you are wanting to just drink somewhere there's a lot of better places out there.

-Obannons sucks worse than the chicken, way overpriced and way too crowded.

-I never attended silver taps when I was a student.

-Never went to student bonfire either.

As to the ring dunk question is started somewhere in the late 80s. My old man was '83 and they didn't have it but people that graduated around '90 knew about it.

Supposedly started as you took your ring and dropped it in a pitcher while playing dominoes or whatever at the chicken and just emptied the pitcher by yourself of the course of the evening, but it didn't take long for men to challenge each other to who was more manly and could drink the whole pitcher faster and the rest is history.

I never went to the Chicken. I dunked my ring at Swensons in a sundae. It was at the bottom of the sundae. At least, I think this is my ring! Did I get my real ring back? For those who don't know, Swensons was a great ice cream parlor that used to be in a shopping center on Texas Ave.

Me either, but that is only because my inlaws are sharks at it and would eat me alive.

I have dunked my ring though. 2 minutes and 43 seconds. One of the best parties I ever threw, two marriages came out of that party.

I really like the Backyard (used to be Fitzwilly's) for just getting drunk because there is more space especially outside, and the outdoor bar is never crowded. Dry Bean is also fun especially if you know the bartenders and can get cheap shots. The chicken is more fun for casual drinking during the afternoon or something, but it's too crowded on weekend nights and gameday. I usually go in and have one drink when I go for games for old times sake but spend the majority of my drinking time elsewhere.

I dunked my ring in September 2010 in just over a minute. The trick is to use light beer and pour it out several hours beforehand to let it warm up and go flat.

I actually had more fun at "Shadow Canyon". I don't know what it's called now. The Chicken was just meh to me.

Have you been back this year? The Backyard went some major renovations. A lot more space on the inside and the actual backyard actually has plant life and mulch for scenery. (Still space for the life size pong and other games though).

I think Chicken beer is overpriced. Logies is like drinking in a giant bathroom, but I like to go there when I'm tired of my ID being probed.
You gents need to forget about Chipotle and Freebirds and go to Fuego.

There's on in College Station. It's behind that Uhaul at the intersection of Texas and University. Awkward location and can be hard to get into but I love it. Never tried it for breakfast though. I try to avoid all Mexican at breakfast.

Place is packed at 2AM though when the NG crowd floods out.
